COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This bottle contains an India Pale Ale from a bygone era. An era of towering sailing ships, burgeoning empires and world shaping beers. This is an ale hand crafted with British malts and English hops to recreate the epic IPAs that were sent on monumental ocean voyages from England to India by sea in the 1800s.

Old World IPA is an attempt by punk post modern Scottish Brewers to pay tribute to a 200 year old odyssey and heritage with a healthy dose of swash-buckling adventure.

Bottle from BrewDog online store (Nov 2013). Hazy copper-orange, 1cm lasting white head, floral/grassy/earthy hops, woody, pencil shavings, resiney bitterness, medium-full body, long dry bitter finish. Not a big, fruit/citrus driven IPA, more subdued, earthy, quite good.

Bottle @ Yespr. Pours clear orange with a lasting small off-white frothy head. Aroma is grass, vegetable-ish, toasted malt, phenols. Taste is light+ sweet, bitter and very light tart. Body is light+, texture is oily, carbonation is moderate. Finishes balanced with lingering bitterness.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2015 Yeah, pours orange with a nice head. Smell is kinda just not a lot, maybe some sprucy hops, and some honeyish malt, but not much. Taste is very crisp, and quite dry, a very sharp bitterness, with no real hop aroma except some grassiness to come with it, maybe the description of this doesn’t sound that great, but it isn’t bad, it actually is kinda good, just that it’s not an IPA that you normally, or atleast I normally sough for - extremely juicy with tropical fruit & hop bursted, this is not it, this is a nice balance between malt and a sharp bitterness which gives a crisp nice beverage.

Bottle, BBE 10/14, thanks bluus. Pours orange with a good, beige head. Aroma is quite malty, caramel, some citrus and grass as well as a tad of earthiness. Taste is dry, somewhat bitter. Malt-forward though. Dry caramel, orange marmalade, some earthiness. Pencil shavings, some citrus and grass. Full palate with decent carbonation. Feels more like an English strong rather than an Indian pale.

Bottle. Semi hazy orange beer with a large white head. Aroma is malty with notes of herbs, citrus, black currant and licorice. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, black currant, toffee and dried fruit. Very unique, but I like it.

50 cl systembolaget. En ipa som nästan helt saknar sötman och de härliga citrusfrukter jag är van vid. Dock kommer denna med en rejäl bäska. Ok men inte fantastiskt.

suurjuust (3674) - ESTONIA - APR 5, 2014
Slightly hazy amber, medium off-white head. Nose is malts, sweetness, metallic notes, hints of caramel, citrus and hops. Flavour is toasty malt, water, caramel, hops in the finish. Not bad, but a bit flat.

0,66L bottle, BB 14.10.2014 (shared by suurjuust, thanks! ). Pours slightly murky amber with big white head. The head stays. Aroma is malt, caramel, slightly metallic, hint of pine and citrus. Taste is sweet and bitter, caramel, pine, citrus, and fruits. Finish is pine bitter and caramel sweetness. Alcohol is rather well covered. Overall: not bad, but was expecting more.

Appearance: Unclear dark golden color with a thick off white head that leaves a fine lacing.
Aroma: Hoppy, roasted malt and mild tropical fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet, and a fresh bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Hoppy, mild tropical fruity and roasted malt.
Overall impression: In The Old World I would have enjoyed this one. Today I prefer The New World IPA.
Personal stats: Bottle from Nettorder at Systembolaget, Norway
