Paradox Compass Box is the latest of our whisky cask aged imperial stouts to be released from its smoky, shadowy cocoon. Our huge stout was aged in Compass Box great King Street barrels for 221 days before bottling. Full bodied, crashing roasty malt flavours are tempered by a rich chocolate character, balanced with light smoke and an extra layer of orange oil complexity.

BenL8 (305) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 25, 2017
Piurs completely black, no head. Aroma is incredibly rich and complex, very sweet, raisins, plums, coffee and chocolate, perfect aroma. Rich whisky, smokey but not over the top. Big body, thick and smooth. Flavour is equally rich and complex, sweet, plums, intense espresso coffee, lot of peat and smoke, caramel. Finishes sweet and heavy, a tad boozy, whisky. Wow! Amazing, clearly best paradox brewdog has made.

Appearance- jet black, completely opaque, a beige foamy head which gradually settles. Aroma- dark chocolate, booze, vanilla, peaty whisky, smoke, rich coffee, leather, burnt treacle, woody earthy malt, dark rum, Christmas pudding. Smells rich. Taste- rich chocolate sauce, roast dark malt, burnt toast, treacle toffee, dark roast coffee, toffee, vanilla sweetness runs throughout, hints of marzipan, candied fruit, cherries, blended raisin, smoky peat, dessert-like sweetness. Oily mouthfeel, sticky finish. Superb.

(unsure of vintage) 330mL Tried alongside the Islay addition at "Tony's Taphouse" Flawless pitch black sump oil body with dark tan head. Aroma is immense - stacks of cocoa & chocolate - slightly oaky, smoky, dark, toasty, hint of Jaffa. Thick bodied, oily, slick, warm, lovely. Body follows on from the nose - perhaps not as intense - chocolate pudding, sweet cookies, Jaffa, Milo, good bitterness, subtle smoke on finish. Loved the Islay, but this was even better!

Look: dark brown, opaque, dark head with average retention. Aroma: chocolate, tar, some smoked notes, dark malt, mature alcohol. Taste: moderate sweetness, some acidity, burned bitterness. Flavour: some soy sauce, whisky, mature cheese, woody vanilla notes, ash, wormwood, black pepper. Spicy warming alcohol finish. Rich and strong. Very good.

Bottle shared with rayaron at a tasting. Opaque brown-black with a tan head. Aroma of peat, iodine, whiskey, cocoa, wood, soy sauce. Sweet, flavors of chocolate, soy, coffee, caramel, prunes, whiskey, coconut, warming alcohol down the throat. Full bodied, oily and rounded. Great.

tomer (3892) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - SEP 19, 2017
At a tasting, many thanks, small brown bubbly head, pitch black color, aroma of soy and wood, lots of umami traits and a light smokiness coming through later, flavor of coconut, ash and umami with whiskey hints, quite sweet but blending in really nicely. Excellent.

rayaron (2126) - Kfar Saba, ISRAEL - SEP 18, 2017
Bottle shared at a tasting at zvsn's place. Opaque black with brownish head. The aroma has notes of whiskey, alcoholic, iodine, wood, soy sauce and some peat. The flavor has lots of soy sauce, umami, quite alcoholic, some smokiness, salted fish, roasted. Smooth, full-bodied. Excellent.

dnicolaescu (2802) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - SEP 14, 2017
(An entire) BOTTLE 33 CL. Pitch black, orange head. Rich luscious chocolaty dark malts, molasses, smoky roastiness, rubber? some whisky? The taste is even better - just the right balance of dark malts sweetness, dark fruit - with being sugary or sticky - roasty rubbery slightly cheesy bitterness, warming alcohol and some spirit. Rich yet easy drinking body. Excellent.

GhostS (562) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - SEP 12, 2017
