Of course this is a truly wonderful beer, just like every other beer in the Paradox series I’ve had. But how much imprint do the barrels leave on the final product? How different is this the Grain from e.g. the Jura or Isle of Islay? I guess you’ll need to do direct comparison in order to discern any obvious differences. My tasting notes for this beer look strikingly similar to the ones I did for the two earlier mentioned beers. To sum up: black body with a small, medium brown, short-lived head. The aroma is very strong and has lovely notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel and other roasted elements, vanilla and very well integrated alcohol with just a hint of whisky without any peat. The intense flavour follows the aroma, with additional notes of coffee. Smooth and oily texture, full body and soft carbonation. Moderate sweet taste with a heavy bitter long-lasting finish. Superb beer, and I can’t wait to open the Heaven Hill I’ve got in my beer cellar, although I assume it will taste very much the same as this one.

Bottle: Thanks Inbreak: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium to smaller sized lively brown head. Pitch black colored beer. Aromas of bay leaf, oat, horse feeder, whiskey, liquorice, prunes, soy, some thick brown sugars, liquorice... Flavours of whiskey, mocha, some liquorice, prunes, bitter and spice, some roast, bay leaf an dark chocolate, some soy... Balanced and smooth. 15%? Damn. Wouldn’t say it either! Well done! Aftertaste is a mix of dark chocolate, toffee, bitters, roast, some bay leaf, hint of cacoa and some soy. Low carbo, soft light watery light creamy mouthfeel, fuller bodied and a light sticky soft spiced texture. Balanced. Somewhat smooth. Very interesting! Classy! Very well done!
