UPDATED: NOV 3, 2009 Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Pours dark chocolate brown with a thin film of tan with some big bubbles lingering. Awesome nose of scotch, chocolate and wood. The flavor was similar but a bit less full. As it warms the flavor becomes more complex and smoked peat and tobacco influences emerge. Medium to full mouthfeel and slight bitter finish. 12oz via trade with magicdave. Damn this is totally, totally difficult to figure out which batch it is etc... Pours black with a thin black ring. Nose is sweet and boozy with a very slick whiskey feel. Taste is sweet, chocolaty. Rich and scotchy, pretty tasty beer. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 27, 2008
rbesg07, cask at blackfriars. deeply black with not much sign of a head. aroma of asphalt, tobacco and some whisky vanilla suggestions. plenty of bitter chocolate balanced, hints of stone fruits and a woody finish with light lactic sourness. quality stuff bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - DEC 26, 2008
(12oz bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a spare beige ring. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, toffee, soy sauce, and light chocolate. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, dried dark fruits, and toffee. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2008
12 oz bottle, via magicdave. Pours a dark brown body with a minimal tight bubbled beige head that vanished rather quickly. The nose is quite impressive, and better than the other batches that I have had of the Paradox series. Nice whisky and roast interaction that really melds well into one scent. A touch of light soy sauce, vanilla, oak, even a bit of smoked meat notes. The flavor is really well balanced between the barrel and the Stout, unlike the others I have had where the barrel really beats down the Stout. Great bitter chocolate, roast, and vanilla up front that fades to a roasty, slightly burnt malt finish gently laced with whisky. Mouthfeel is full bodied with gentle fizzy carbonation. Not the thickest in texture, but it is a lot more rounded and soft than the others I have had. Pretty nice, this experience gives me hope for the other batches that I have after being disappointed by some of the previous ones.
