Imperial Stout aged in American Bourbon Barrels for 12 months. A schizophrenic translatlantic son of a bitch of a beer. Huge, decadent imperial stout clashes in the most beautiful way with the best incarnation of the American Dream since Nixon choked on a cheeseburger. We think this might just be the best Paradox ever. Available in both keg and bottle.

Senka (1093) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 28, 2015
The overpriced tasting session at Koht. Crazy brew. Malty, ashy, bitter over the top with huge amount of hops. Not so dry, and no nasty sediment/aftertaste. Well balanced abv, if you can say that about 15% beer. As far as crazy goes - this batch 079 is good. No so much bourbon in this one though.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, 20150926) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, vanilla and sweetness. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, wood, booze and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy and bitter. The booze and wood hid the beer too much.

Black as hell, light brown head. Vanilla, cocoa and hints of bourbon on the nose. Sweet, thick and a bit like engine oil. Roasty bitterness and noteable alcohol, along with some vanilla sweetness. Perplexing. Good.

Another Paradox, another lovely beer! As always I find it hard to compare the different versions of the series since months passes between each time I try a new one. This is of course a powerful, highly complex and super malty brew, packed with elements such as dark chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa, dark caramel, vanilla, bourbon, dark dried fruits and if my memory serves me right, a bit more pronounced alcohol than e.g. Jura. Also fermented apple in an autolysis-like way. Finally vague hints of coffee, liquorice and soy sauce. The taste is moderate sweet and the everlasting finish is quite heavy bitter (and alcoholic). Full-bodied and oily with a soft carbonation. A delicious imperial stout, but maybe not quite as amazing as the best ones in the series?

From trade with fonefan, many thanks!
33cl botte. Pours very dark brown black with a nice lasting tan head. Aroma of burned malt, wood, coffee, vanilla, some alcohol. Taste is intense malty, tons of vanilla, coffee, burned malt, some alcohol, very delicious, perfect beer!

Camons (13326) - Hasselager, DENMARK - SEP 6, 2015
Bottle @ Beer Geek Shop, Prague. Pours black with a small brown head, some oily lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, slight burnt, caramel, wood, sweet dried fruit, vanilla, loads of bourbon. Flavor is light sweet, rich malty, caramel, chocolate, some dried fruit, vanila, wood, bourbon, some alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, light sweet finish with warming alcohol. A little to hot, and heavy on the bourbon. 250815

.33l bottle @Harry’s. This liquid orgasm pours black with beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, bread notes, dark fruits, alcohol, syrup, bread and some berries. Flavor is dark malts, alcohol, coffee notes, dark fruits, cocoa, dark chocolate, burned malts, syrup, whisky notes. Amazingly soft palate, oily. Alcohol well hidden! Swell!

Bottle pour from Beer Geek Shop. Black with orange tints, oily. Big whiskey nose, vanilla, chocolate. Sweet and fruity with coffee, whiskey, peaches, alcohol heat.

bartlebier (4123) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - AUG 23, 2015
33cl bottle bb03/2024 kindly decellared by oldmanriver, merci. Aroma of heavily woodbarreled vanilla bourbon and muscovado caramels with a fruity berry touch. More lively wood in taste, moving over deep bourbon barreled tannins over dry muscovados/molasses towards a serrated cured wood lingering finish. Confident Brewdog hop cocktail for counterbalance, lush berry, orange and stone fruit peel subdominants. Not all too decadent or coating mouthfeel, with even a bit of a lively carbo sparkle. Great dessert accompaniment, not (yet?) quite dessert in itself.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2017 One of the best Imperial Stouts I?ve ever tried. Not easily beatable! Shiny black with thin beige head, aroma is chocolate and bourbon. Taste as well, with vanilla and molasses, low bitterness. But the best is the feeling that drinking this gave me: like drinking a whisky there is a very pleasant warm feeling in the stomach, smooth as hell, lovely feeling of drinking some hot chocolate liquor based on bourbon. Astonishing.
