Opaque black beer. No head. Creamy dark malt and whisky nose. Smooth palate, no carbonation. Lactose sweet dark malt with mild minerals. The whisky is well blended, smooth and not smoky or peaty. All pretty civilised. Finishes sweet.

Bottleshare at Leightons Gaff. Thanks to Fergus. 6.5 years later and try again! Clear deep red - amber beer, tidy tan head. Palate is airy, dry and has reasonable carbonation. Tangy dark malts, just a trace of peat. Tangy dark fruits and spicy bitterness. Mellow fruity whiskey. Light dry spicy finish. Has aged very well. 3.6

Maroon color with a thin edge head and scant lacing. Aroma of smoke, roasted malts and caramel, not necessarily in that order. Flavor of peat and earth, burnt espresso, and a dry, bitter finish. Good body. Definitely worth trying, an interesting and complex beer.
