4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rated 3/24/13. Now this is more like it. Portion of a 12 oz bottle into a Hunahpu’s snifter. From notes.
A: Pours a dark brown color. There’s no real head, expected given the gravity.
S: Very plummy, with a strong whisky undertone. These tones are backed by a nice chocolate quality, and the booze is hidden very well given 15%.
T: Smoky, peat-forward whisky opens and closes the profile, sandwiching a midtaste of plum and chocolate. Really damn smooth given the strength, too. Only thing I can nitpick is that the integration between the barrel and the base beer isn’t perfect.
M: Really good body on this one. It starts sweet, but becomes drier as more of this is sipped. Did I mention the well-concealed alcohol? Don’t think I have...
O: Oh yes, I was real impressed with this one. If this were $10/12 oz, I’d buy the shit out of it...alas, it’s around $15, so I’m hesitant to recommend this, as excellent as it is. Still worth a try.
December 2017 - Tasting in Hackney. Bottle shared with big thanks to Kenny. As 'BrewDog Paradox Jura', 15%. Opaque black with a foamy brown head that leaves dotted lacing. Aroma is meaty, touch buttery whisky, some milk chocolate. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is smooth and malty, quite 'meaty' rich, more chocolate, faintest cherry and mint notes, spicy-salty finish. Not bad on the whole. 12Dec2017 Sweet, dark malts, toasted brioche, dark chocolate. Hazy, very dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Heavy sweet. More peat, whiskey, sweet, dark, toasted bread, dark malts, dark, burnt molasses, soft carbonation, full bodied. Outstanding Impy, rich and intense. Bottle shared at Leighton's - thanks to madmitch76! danielfb75 (4) - - JUL 4, 2017 does not count
Aroma tb lembra o bailey"s.

Shared by Craig, October 1, 2016. Thanks for this one. If anyone finds I have misplaced this rating, please let me know. Black beer, black, moderate smoke in the aroma. Roasted malt and lots of sugar, dry oak, some more whisky in the flavor. Great palate, thick and heavy. One of the best beers I had while in Britain. danlo (3355) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2016
330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Pours black in colour with a thin beige foam head and aroma of roast malt, molasses, dried fruits, chocolate & coffee, booze. Taste is dark malty, sweet, brown sugar, chocolate, roasted, coffee, nutty, with raisins and earthy whisky notes. Silky smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry warm boozy finish. Nice, very drinkable.

Corpo pieno, bassa carbonazione, corposa ed oleosa, buon equilibrio. redtechnj (315) - Williamstown, New Jersey, USA - FEB 1, 2016
