3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pros: Powerful and well integrated flavors and aromas. Super chocolaty, syrup-like, with notes of smoke and graham. This is one of the more balanced examples and it has ample flavors and aromas.
Cons: Same appearance as the other Paradox. Not dark enough and filtered. Mouth feel needs more weight and texture as well.
Bottle. BBE date Dec 2010; Drank Apr 2009 - Black in colour, with reddish tinge against bright light. Very malty; dark chocolate, espresso coffee, roast malts, caramel, toffee, hint of liquorice. Tarry & oily. Fruity; berries? Hoppy; bitter earthy hops. Whisky flavour noticeable, but much more subtle than the Paradox Speyside. Very dry finish. Underlying sweetness. Dominant flavour is very, very chocolate, very coffee. Enjoyed this. Nice Imperial Stout! (2009-04)

(bottle - 330 ml - 2008 vintage) Dark black with no head. Roasted malts and the lightest hint of vanilla and sweetness in the aroma. Flavor is strangely mild however. Light roast and some mild whiskey and barrel notes. Smooth but lacking the punch of the previous two we had. pivnizub (10672) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JAN 9, 2015
Bouteille: Literally black, small stable tanned head; dry caramelly-toasty nose with traces of wood and leather; solid and astonishingly dry bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, not very soft; a bit more vinous in the dry fruity and toasty finish. Surely not bad, but surely not my favourite… Beerhunter111 (21515) - P´Castle, GERMANY - DEC 6, 2014
Bottle @ koelschtrinker Tasting: Sehr dunkelbraunes Bier mit geringer beiger Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr kräftig malzig, süß, Whiskeyfass. Geschmack nach viel Vanille, holzig, reife Früchte, alkoholisch. Koelschtrinker (20594) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - DEC 5, 2014
Etwas metallerner Malzantrunk mit steigender Bitterkeit. Laff, etwas Whisky. Trotz der Milde schwer und unsüffig. Nicht besonders. 7/8/7/7/10/7

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a tan head. Aroma is whiskey, malt, coffee. Flavour is whiskey, roasted malt, coffee, peat, alcohol. Full body. Nice beer. Stew41 (2040) - Phuket, THAILAND - MAR 2, 2014
BB Jan 14. Not sure when I bought this but must be at least 2 years old. Going really well - dark roast, peaty, boozy but not at crazy levels. The nose promises a dense mouthful but translates more modestly (not a bad thing). Must have a couple of years left? Beer5000 (6550) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 23, 2014
330 ml bottle. A dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is milder than expected, malt, whisky, oak and slightly roasted with a hint of peat. Flavor is sweet malty, a hint of oak and whisky with balanced bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Well-made and really pleasant beer with a lighter whisky impression than normally for the Paradox. yngwie (17078) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2014
Bottle. An almost black one, topped by a small, tan head. The aroma is surprisingly neutral, meaty and roasted with a light whisky, boozy touch. Some faint vanilla hints and alcohol. The flavor has a nice bitterness to deal with the sweetness, and lots of flavors of whisky, meat and roasted malts. Full-bodied and warming. Lasting finish with lots of good flavors. A pretty nice one, tasteful but not extremely nice. Fun fact, by accident drank at the BB date. 140110
