Stinky dirty aroma. Blackish, small tight head settles to a ring. Decent rye and burnt malty taste, but harshish bitterness. A bit of a mess and probably an overrate.
Anna's notes from earlier: Tap (BrewDog Tallinn
Dark brown (pretty much black, actually) with a ring head plus big loose bubbles.
There's a fairly subdued aroma of a credible black IPA. Spruce tips maybe, or at least some piney component. The palate's a bit fizzy, but the acidity here is from rye rather than carbonic acid and not too prominent. Spicy hints in the taste. There are definitely conifers in the finish, though not overdone. They work. Some burntness in the late finish that leads to some ash. Over time, this gets a little harsher, though some nice roast lingers too.
Bottle. Small, bubbly tan head on a black body. Grapefruit, rye bread, resin, pine, red berries, zesty orange, spruce. Medium sweetness, tart rye notes, medium bitterness. Creamy medium body with pearly carbonation. Nice, unusual stuff. Sadly it gets more sticky with warmth. planky84 (3737) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2018
Bottle from Brewdog, Soho drank at home. Black pour with a beige head. Licorice, burnt spice, light coffee and caramel aroma. Flavours of raisin, licorice, some dark fruit, more burnt spice. Good.
