RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting @ the Harlequin. Dark brown color, Medium off-white head. Roasted malt aromas with some caramel and a hint of berries in the back. Taste of roasted malts, iodine, ash and an acidic touch with a notable raspberry flavour. Full body. Bitter finish with a slight citric touch.Weird but likeable. madsenbryg (371) - Holstebro, DENMARK - NOV 24, 2010
Frugt og imperial stout ? OG DET VIRKER! Sød malt, kaffe, hindbær, tøv, lidt røg, fad, grape lidt, sort, brun tæt lang skum. Sød, bitter, tør og blød. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 13, 2010
Bottle, RBWG 2010. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a wispy minimal off-white head. The nose is briney and peaty with some smoke, heavy roast, and a nice ripe raspberry note. The flavor is peaty as all hell with some fresh ripe seedy raspberries on the finish. Lots of roast and wood, with just a little bit of alcohol. Mouthfeel is not sticky or cloying at all, and the barrel dries out the finish really well. Really interesting beer, especially if you’re into peat. yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - JUL 12, 2010
Aroma is initially just sweet with lots of raspberry and then some roasted malts. Flavor is sweet, raspberry, some cocoa and must. Slightly bitter and odd, semi medicinal. Not that good for me. SuzyGreenberg (1603) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 13, 2010
330 ml bottle; wow, thanks Brandon for this rare treat; pours dark brown and almost muddy with thin tan head; tobacco and cherries up front with dirty branches, dry tobacco leaves and chocolate; wow, very interesting mouthfeel with a very dry, smoky finish; not the rauch smokiness but big time dried tobacco leaves; raspberries and chocolate mixed in too; peaty, earthy and a little candy sweetness to round it out; never tasted the dried tobacco leaves quite like this; I really enjoyed this one

Bottle sampled at Papsø’s on 8/30/09: Pours mostly opaque with dark mahogany edges and a frothy clingy-lacing beige head. Very unique aroma of sweet dark caramel, chocolate and fruity raspberries with nice smoky peaty undertones. Starts with good dark caramel sweetness which soon gives way to fresh tart raspberry flavor before a smoky peaty finish. Pretty well-balanced and very unique. Bottle. Pours a dark brune body with an off white head. Raspberries, wooden chocolate malt tones, and a bit of dusty wood kinda like worm wood or sawdust like. Very light sweetness with a drier woody finish then most IS. sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAR 18, 2010
pour dark brown, thin tan head.
Aroma and flavors, this one does have a lot of peat/ashy characteristics that tend to ruin my Brewdog experiences. This one was different, still egt the peat aspect but more subtle.
Some raspberries come through the whole ashy mouthfeel, meshed with light chocolate malts. Toobad the beer end sup overpowered by the peat finish.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2010 12oz, I think, capped with plain white label given to me from my kickass co-worker! Light and thin looking black with a smokey white head that has some spotty lacing. Nose is very unique...lots of peat and tobacco with rapberry juice and as scrizzz points out a touch of sharpie pen...and I also get some light cocoa. Lively carb and somewhat thin body. Wow!...love this. Really unique and tastes what I was expecting it to be like although I didn’t think it could happen. Peat, tobacco, bright fresh raspberry. I love islay scotch...this is killer! Thanks Holly.
