Hella earthy smoked malts, peaty, and fresh sweet raspberries on the nose. Initially not too good, but once aroma is understood its really nice. Some vanilla notes. Murky dark brown pour, tan creamy head, great lace. Tart raspberries upfront with tons of peat smoked flavors. Tart raspberry lingers and finishes the palate, smoked tobacco is there as well, tons of peat throughout and long lasting. This is really damn awesome. Fuck yeah hoes! Smooth drinking, solid idea and execution. Yes!

From bottle at the Rake, July 2009. I like the Smokehead and I like raspberries in a beer. They certainly do lend some tart fruit but I’m not sure I was particularly enamoured of the combination. Certainly interesting and, in some ways, appealing but not entirely to my taste.

Bottle at the de-boned chicken tasting. Pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Sweet with some sourness. Aromas of peated malts and raspberries ... Bad combo. High carbonation. Medium to light bodied. Long dry finish with more peat aromas.

[bottle @ RBESG 2009, Grand Tasting] Smokey raspberries barbecue aroma. Dark brown-deep red under a beige ring. Iodinic smoke and raspberry flavour full of tangy barbecue sauce (weird). Moderate bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation, fruity and clean finish but for a slight tang.

shared by Beerlando. Not sure what i thought of this one. Strong peaty smoke on the nose, ashy. Pours dark brown almost black. Very smokey flavor, peaty, very very ashy with traces of raspberry. As i drank more the smoke took a back seat but upfront its almost harsh, just very ashy. The raspberry comes through as well reminding me of BBQ sauce a little. Very interesting but not for me.

Courtesy darkguardian. Pours a dark mahogany color topped by a small, foamy khaki colored head that leaves minimal lacing behind. The aroma is very sharp and extremely smokey with notes of burnt peat and acidic raspberries. It is very ashy too with an almost weird bbq sauce smell. The flavor follows suit with the burnt peat and oak not meshing with the sharp raspberries. There is a hint of chocolate malt, but it is overcome from all the ash and smoke. Medium bodied and a bit thinned from the fruit and pretty harsh going down from the smoke and acidity. I can appreciate the experiment, but it just didn’t work for me.

Botlte at Sune. Clear red brown coloured with a huge beige head. Fruity and light roasted aroma of raspberries with notes of smoke and whisky. Light roasted flavour of raspberries, smoke and whisky. Roasted finish.

From the Bottle at RBESG Harlequin, Sheffield 19/07/2009 Some acidic vinegary aroma. Dark coloured and very fruity raspberry aroma with a little bitterness in a smoked dry finish.
