COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled.
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

Bottle, 8% at ÅBF08. Almost black colour. No head. Sweet roasted flavour. Quite alcoholic.

Capped 750 from the Sacramento Total Wine. Pours dark brown/black with a creamy 3 finger dark tan head. Aroma seems mostly chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is treacle, dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, maybe hops. Hops? There’s too much going on here to distinguish hops. It’s fairly bitter. This is a reasonably, or maybe unreasonably, complicated ale. One thing for sure - it’s a best buy considering the amount of ingredients.

Bottle from Johns Marketplace in Portland, OR. Pours a very dark ruby brown with a good tan head. There is a rich dark fruit aroma along with toasted/burnt malt and coffee. A pleasant aroma. Full bodied with near chewy carbonation. Flavor is a bit of tar, very, very smooth burnt malt, and coffee. With time chocolate is detectable. Then it all coalesces into a well balanced and sturdy stout. Soft and smooth it is. Also very tasty.

Scopey (15522) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2012 Bottle from BrewDog online store. It pours very dark brown, with a big beige head. The nose is coffee, dark fruit (particularly blackcurrant), chocolate, nut, liquorice and cake. The taste is dark chocolate, treacle, caramel, filter coffee, dark fruit (blackcurrant and plum), toast, roasted malt, solid bitterness and alcohol warmth, with a dry-roast finish. Medium to full body and moderate carbonation. Tasty and very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a paperthin light tan head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a sweet roasted malt with chocolate and coffee. Thin mouthfeel and very watery on the palate with a light roasted malt and a bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink. A decent Imperial Stout from BrewDog.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown nearly black with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of smoke, roasted malt, coffee, bitter chocolate, light graininess and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth witrh a lightly dry finish. Flavors of smoke, roasted malt, bakers chocolate, light coffee and a hint of anise with a smooth dry lingering bitter roasty finish.

Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer Fest ’07. Black with slight tan head. Looking like crude oil in a glass, this is a big thick sweet, fruity beer with a touch of cough medicine in the background. Blackberry and a hint of banana, I couldn’t get too far beyond the sweetness. Tricky for a beer fest because it stays in the mouth for some time.

Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks SG for this bottle. Black with a light brown head. Roasty aroma with coffee, licorice, dark chocolate, some spiciness and a bit of dark fruits. Bittetrsweet roasty flavor with lots of coffee, some licorice, a bit of chocolate and a dry, burnt and rather bitter finish. Full-bodied. Nice.
