4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22-oz bottle. This is not the kind of in your face imperial stout that I often encounter. It is more like an aggressive version of the traditional british stout. Color is dark brown with very little head with a soapy, lasting lace. Aroma is lactose, chocolate, coffee, intense roast, and alcohol. The alcohol bothered me at first. I swished it around quite a bit to let it breathe. Mouthfee is very smooth - the flavor is extremely roasty, with a lot of coffee character - some sweet chocolate malts ride through the middle, with a bit of plum and dark berry fruitiness as well - but a strong bitterness comes from behind that, making the other characteristics aside from the roastiness disappear from the palate pretty fast - the bitterness lasts quite some time through the finish, but the alcohol never presented itself as I had expected it would. - the dryness and bitterness work well in this one, and I kind of find it refreshing to have an impy that isn’t so over the top. It is one of my very favorites now.
Pours black with a beige head. The aroma is dark chocolate, coffee, with hints of dark fruits and nuts. The taste is chocolate with lots of roast and sour coffee. There’s some alcohol noticeable. Nice smooth finish. Body is medium, carbonation is soft. It’s a FES-like imperial stout but still ok. Alusmamuts (1908) - LATVIA - FEB 17, 2017

Casi negra opaca, espuma tostada. Aroma intenso, a Oporto. En boca presenta un gran cuerpo, oleosa, sabrosa, ahumada, café, galleta, oporto, chocolate... alcohol razonablemente disimulado. Muy buena.

Pours black with thick brown head.
Aroma: liquor candy, coffee, raisins, ash.
Taste: nice short sweetness that evolves into coffeeish sourness and later into nice ashy bitterness.
Full body, creamy texture, low but stinging carbonation, long astringent bitter finish. Very good first impression spoiled by increasingly alcoholic taste.
Note: I bought this beer about half year ago and kept it in the basement because of reviews talking about strong alcoholic aroma. Text on my bottle: 269 CCAA 26/05/20 javiercrasher (541) - Granada, SPAIN - NOV 3, 2016
En nariz maltas torrefactas, café y chocolate, de fondo algo de alcohol. Cuerpo medio, sedosa y con buena espuma. En boca entra dulce a regaliz para terminar torrefacta y seca. Muy equilibrada. BB. 2020-05-26 drjoeng (1230) - SINGAPORE - OCT 9, 2016
Poured out black and syrupy. 40ºSRM.
Nose has faint aroma of curing silicone, chinese medicine, liniment. Hints of charcoal and coffee.
Mouthfeel is carbonated and surprisingly light. Palate has charcoal, burnt twigs, blackened grain. There are fruity flavors of raisins, dates. Nice little hit of clean alcohol, you notice it more because it appears the same time on the palate as this straight vertical bitter front.
Finish is a little ashy.
