COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A porter of papal proportions, Self Assembly Pope combines a trinity of awesome special ingredients with a complex malt bill, in our latest small batch beer enrobed in exclusive artwork.

Myriad hedonistic aromas of cocoa powder, vanilla bean, coconut, and bitter chocolate, with hints of roasty black coffee and dark fruit, followed by a smooth, velvety mouthfeel and a rich, bittersweet finish.

This was described to me as a bounty bar, but whilst I agree there's a coconutty goodness there, it's more of a whole, hard, coconut projected into the face than any confectionery I'm familiar with ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Dark brown with bronze color, yellowish foam. Strong aroma of vanilla, coconut and cocoa, chocolate, caramel. Taste: chocolate with coconut and vanilla, caramel, sour and bitter finish.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2017 scadenza 5/12/2017 in lattina, completamente spenta, bel cappello di schiuma che però si smonta rapidamente, forse una partita rovinata visti i giudizi positivi

Dark black, with a smallish head. The aroma is huge roasted coconut, real coconut, and a bit heady perhaps. A roasty porter, a big enough beer that it can carry the alcohol. Maybe one-dimensional but not bad, I like this. Not too sweet either, and no slickness. Roasty coconutty finish leaves you with a desire for more.

May 2017 - Can share at Leighton’s. As ’BrewDog Self Assembly Pope’. Opaque black with a big foamy brown head that leaves full lacing. Aroma is big on the coconut, also lots of cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Body is frothy with soft carbonation. Taste is Bounty bar, lots of dissected coconut, more cocoa but it’s all taken over by the coconut. Some light drying booze. Maybe a little one-dimensional but it’s pretty tasty stuff.

Cool can art, lovely dark colour and a fantastic head that lasted and lasted. The problem was the coconut, which tasted artificial, dominated all levels of flavour and really didn’t do it for me. It was like drinking a nice stout that someone has wrecked by mixing in some of those Quality Street coconut sweets that always get left until the end of the tin. And I really dislike those sweets. A worthwhile, but quite unpleasant experiment.
