(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty spicy nose with ginger, liquorice, dark bread, ginger biscuits, brown sugar and a touch of chocolate. Malty, spicy taste with notes of ginger, liquorice, cocoa, black rye bread, lots of gingerbread and a certain spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, mainly dry. Brings me back to mom’s gingerbread at Christmas (and makes me sound a bit like Proust...). Quite nice. Hansen (8601) - Assentoft, DENMARK - NOV 19, 2010
Looks good, dark brown, almost black and clear. Has a light brown head, mostly lasting. Aroma is heavy spicy, cinnamon. Flavor is even more spicý, too much, like soap. Not good. Plovmand (8532) - Grindsted, DENMARK - DEC 7, 2010
They are right. After this there is no Santa. They just killed him! This is herbal spicy hell on bottle. In pours Black with a fluffy big off white head. The aroma is cinnamon, lots of ginger, chocolate, cardemom, caramel and sweet candy. The flavour is very spicy and herbal with notes of ginger, light chocolate, cardemom and caramel. Long spicy finish. laiti (8484) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 7, 2011
33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 29.09.2012DruncanVeasey (8260) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JUN 18, 2012
Spicy aroma with gingerbread, cinnamon and hints of metal. Flavour has cinnamon, gingerbread and hints of ashes. Too spicy aftertaste and a bit watery palate.
Bottle from AP Harvey Wines, Coventry, 18/06/12. 188 shopping days to go. Been a while since I’ve had a Dog so I’m eager to get stuck in. Deep ruby with a slim, blotching tan head. Surprising, Flemish sour edge and caramel aroma with mulled red wine. Heavily mulled taste with ginger and clove; some burnt wood and ill-matched, lingering bitterness. Regurgitated orange juice? Feels more alcoholic than its modest ABV. Ultimately not enough flavour or depth to carry the spices. Did nothing to enhance my mid-June sense of christmasiness.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2012 Botle from Rema in Moss, Norway. Deep dark colour with a beige head. Lots of cinnamon nose. Heavy cinnamon and christmas cookies flavour. A veeeery strange beer :-)) Hermod (8111) - Vantaa, FINLAND - NOV 24, 2011
33cl bottle from Stockmann, Vantaa. Poured cola color with a thin beige head. Aroma sure is xmasy, ginger and cinnamon mostly upfront. Flavor is ginger, chocolate and some other spice I can´t figure out at the moment. Well balanced, not overly spiced. Bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Interesting. Pours a very dark brown colour with a thick, slightly beige head. Aroma of strong Christmassy spices; gingerbread, cinnamon and wood. Flavour of slightly roasted malts, banana, cinnamon, gingerbread, dry cocoa with mild bitterness. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and a nice spicy and malty finish. A light Christmassy beer without too much spices. Good one.
330 ml bottle, batch #297, bought at Coop OBS, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Dark brown to black colour, big beige head. Strong sweetish aroma of ginger, cocoa and oranges. Light bodied, can’t be expected to be a match for its big brother Santa Paws. Fairly refreshing flavour, not very sweet, strong notes of ginger and cocoa, bitter and peppery finish. Seems somewhat unbalanced with all its spiciness, lacks a malty backbone.
