COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hark! A limited editon seasonal stout brewed with cocoa nibs and ginger stems.

In the true spirit of Christmas ’cheers’ we at BrewDog have taken it upon ourselves to create a Santas’s little helper for all those battling through the festive season.

Our crack team of elves, penguins and red nose raindeer have been crafting, brewing and perfecting this warming winter stout as a reward for all those driven to the brink and back in the name of Noel.

Now all you have to do is don that customary yule tide sweater and find a roaring open fire to enjoy it by.

In fact this beer is so good, we specifically advise against sharing it with any chimney intruding, night time visitors.

Oh and just remember, this BrewDog’s not for life, it’s just for Christmas.

33cl bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of ginger, cinnamon and coco. Fairly roasty. It smells exactly like IKEA biscuits (ginger biscuits). Flavor is quite spiced with alot of ginger and some cinnamon. Some roasty bitterness too. Quite stout-ish base, spiced with those biscuits. Medium body with soft carbonation. Overall, the first of its kind to me, and quite nice indeed.

Bottle from SB, cons 2010-12-07 AR: to much cloves (more like glögg (Swedish gluwein)), resin, pine AP: dark, dark ruby red (amlost black), of white frothy head, nice curtains F: roasted malt, ginger bread, thin body, metallic feeling, medium high bitterness, some coffey. Definitivly not one of the better Brewdogs I have consumed!

Big brown head. Black body goes barely translucent brown at edges. Spicy cinnamon cocoa and pine needle aroma with roasty notes. Dry intensely spicy ginger and cinnamon taste with wooden cocoa notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dry wooden pine needle aftertaste with roasty cocoa notes. The spiciness is a bit sharp and harsh for such a thin, dry beer, but it’s still a good beer. (0.33l bottle, Meny Grønland Torg, Oslo.)

330ml bottle (batch 297, best before 4 September 2011) @ Christmas tasting on 28 December 2010. Dark brown colour with a reddish tinge. Thanks to Jan for bringing over this beer, which we cannot get in the UK. A fairly light-bodied stout with some powdery chocolate/cocoa. However, I am overly enamoured of a lot of spices in a beer and this was very heavily spiced indeed. Although not specifically mentioned in the commercial description, I thought I picked up lots of cinnamon & nutmeg as well as the ginger that is mentioned. OK but just far too much spice for my taste. All a matter of personal choice of course.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 29/09/12, 201111124) The beer poured dark brown. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had cinnamon, chocolate and ginger. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were ginger, chocolate, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had spices and bitterness. After sniffing the beer I was expecting a heavier spice bomb but the flavours were quite balanced which was a nice surprise.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2010 330ml Bottle (Thanks Svesse) - Dark brown with a tan head. Spicy and chocolatey aroma with hints of ginger and cinnamon. Gingerbread, malt and chocolate dominate the taste with a bitter and slightly warming finish.

330ml bottle from K-Supermarket Kamppi

Batch 1273 BBE 29/09/12 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a small foamy head. Aroma has notes of slightly roasty malts, gingerbread, cinnamon and other Christmas spices. Taste has notes of slightly roasted malts, spices, cocoa and some fruity hints. Finish is carbonated and slightly hoppy. Okay spicy stout that certainly gets you in the mood for Christmas. Not very well balanced, though.

olsvammel (7256) - Örebro, SWEDEN - JAN 9, 2011
Bottle from Systembolaget. It poured a pitch black liquid with a big light brown head. Smel of ginger and lots of it. Taste of ginger, fruits, fruit cake, spices, dried apples and cinnamon. Semi-smooth mouthfeel, medium thick body and a high amount of carbonation. This was like drinking a liquid fruit cake spiced with ginger. Hard to rate but interesting... I liked it.

larsniclas (7144) - Billdal, SWEDEN - DEC 11, 2010
Bottled from Systembolaget Black with a large, off-white head. Fresh, slightly roasted aroma and flavour with ginger. Light to medium bitterness and pretty moderate sping makes it a good beer in my palate!
