Draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels.

330 ml bottle, batch # 096(?, print unclear), Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%. Chestnut colour, large cream-coloured head. Medium strong aroma of peat-smoked malts, not much else comes through. The flavour is medium sweet with notes of peat smoke and ashes, moderate hops in the finish. A bit one-dimensional. Why the heck must a delicate hop like Nelson Sauvin fight an impossible battle with Laphroaig peat-smoked malts?

Bottle from Euston Tap. Pours dark copper brown with a stable head. Intense caramel, smoked malts, iodine as well as tropical fruits. Laphroig leads the way in the mouth with some smoothing caramel. A new style is born.

Pours copper brown with a thick head A distinct aroma of smoky islay cask, raisins, brown sugar and hints of sour fruits. The oaky and smoky flavor is there. I would say more oak than smokyness in taste. Very bitter ending. The 11.3 % alcohol level is actually not very present which is a big plus.A very special beer. One of the better barley wines I´ve had.

Bottle enjoyed at home in a nosing glass.
I’m really excided to try this beer. Brewdog is one of the portals of my beer fascinations and FFF i’ve only read and heard of but they’re legends - so what can they make together?

The beer pours a dark redish brown topped with an amazing tanned head. Really neat. Aroma has ripe fruits and peaty smoke. Taste confirms the smoke and peat. Pow, smokorama! Peat, smoke and tar. Good malt characters known to barleywines and nice sweetness. Alcohol is very good hidden. Feel is quite oily as should be. Nice. The finish has power hop bitterness from nelson that is quite grassy. Very interesting indeed that the smoke dominates totally at first but then lets the grass bitterness to overtake and dominate. Some herb notes apply. Very nice BW - very scottish indeed

tap @ chr 4-tal, Odense.
lovely clear ruby red. Fine, staying, creamy, light-beige head. Good duration. Aroma is sweet, fat peity smoke, caramel, light biscuity. Medium carbonation, fat oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, vinious, caramel, heavy peity. Just a bit too much smoke for me...

Amazing aromas of smoke, whiskey, tobacco and caramel malt. The taste has a significantly smokiness with a vague ash-like tone, there is a slightly warm taste of alcohol and a distinct bitterness in the finish. An extreme beer that you definitely do not pour in quickly, it must be consumed gradually in small quantities. I guess the present relatively sharp whiskey flavors is rounded off nicely if the beer is stored for some time.

Bottle bought at Systembolaget on August 3. Consumed August 22. Pours a dark amber liquid with a brown/white head. A smell of tarred wood hits you almost at ones. Exploring the smell further gives you roasted malts, some caramel and alot of tar. Flavour is sweet and malty with a prominent whisky character. There is tar, tabacco and smoked wood combined with caramel, candy and some some hints of lemon. A strange beer but I must say I fell in the category who like it.
