Intergalactic Fantastic Oak Aged Stout
The irony of existentialism, the parody of being and the inherent contradictions of post-modernism, all so delicately conveyed by the blocky, pixelated arcade action have all been painstakingly recreated in this bottles contents.

This imperial stout is brewed with copious amounts of speciality malts, jasmine and cranberries. After fermentation we then dry-hop this killer stout with a bucketload of our favourite hops before carefully ageing the beer on French toasted oak chips.

It is all about moderation. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. What logically follows is that you must, from time, have excess. This beer is for those times.
Formally 18.2 % ABV

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2017 Aus der Flasche getrunken (Direktlieferung von BrewDog). Tiefschwarz mit beiger Schaumkrone. Wenig intensive Nase. Kaum Bitternoten schmeckbar.

Several years ago I drunk 18.2% version, but I didn’t rated it couse I become RB member a few years later. Nevermind. Newer version have "just" 16,5% abv. and new label which isn’t so fascinanting as the older one. Pours oily black, opaque, with dissipating light brown tan head. Aroma: prevails autolyzed-sulfury notes as soy souce, dark malts, roasted grain... Flavour is very similar: umami, soy souce (sulfury), tongue-coating, tomato (once again umami). This notes absolutely prevails over dark malts, roasted grain and hops. As I know very low notes of umami/ soy souce are acceptable in beers with sch a high abv. but in this case those flavours are too intense and unpleasant. When it warms up it became more pleasant, little more balanced with gentle sherry or rum-like alcohol note (which is very well hidden due high abv.!). Finish is slightly stucky dry, body is full, texture smooth, carbonation is moderate.

On tap. Small white head. Aroma is cherry in chocolate. Alcohol is noticeable and becomes tiring. Nothing special.

pjotrapostou (249) - POLAND - JUN 14, 2017
Ciekawe, nietypowe, smaczne.

Bottle at BrewDog Brussels. Opaque black with brownish head, oily. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, coffee and dulce de leche, alcoholic. The flavor is quite alcoholic with notes of dulce de leche, rum, oily, wood, soy sauce and berries. Oily texture, full-bodied.

Old bottle of the 18.2% version bought in Whole Foods Market Kensington several years back. Nose is sweet, roasted malts, black sugar, chocolate, black coffee, candy sugar, vanilla,. On the taste this is big and rich. Dark chocolate, candy sugar, vanilla, black coffee, roasted malt, dark fruits, black sugar. I was expecting this to be yeasty and Marmitey having been aged 5 years or so, but it’s not at all. Sweet and very nice.
