Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen.

330ml bottle. This is a great example of a black lager. Dark in appearance with an off white head. Smells of cocoa powder and coffee. Mouth feel is thin but not watery. Taste is of bitter hops and malt - none of that overly sweet flavour you get with macros and also not too carbonated. A very sessionable and enjoyable beer.

Can. A dark brown, cola-coloured beer with a large, foamy, light brown head. Lager yeast and dandelion & burdock on the nose. Smooth and easy to drink, with a relatively light body for a dark beer. A nice dryness and a just a touch of coffee and chocolate.

Lidt kedelig mørk øl uden det store særpræg. Lidt bitterhed med en smule sødme til at balance det. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a medium size khaki head, rich lacing. Roasted barley aroma, chocolate and caramel. Light and smooth feel. Pleasant toasted and roasted taste with lots of toffee and chocolate. Dry and chalky bitter finish.

Frisch gezapft. Klar und schwarz mit cremiger, mittelgroßer Schaumkrone. Aroma von Beeren. Leicht fruchtig. Spritzig. Leichter Körper.

Can. Pours black with a tan head. Toasty, caramel, red berries. Bitter with loads of toasted malts, fruity, quite bitter with a dry end.

Fluffy beige head stayed well on a jet black still body. Malt, chocolate & coffee aroma. To the fore, before you actually taste it feels just like a lager on the palate. Sharp, clean & well carbonated. Medium bodied. Hard to pick the flavours, tastes like a lager but with a hoppy, bitter back. There’s also coffee, malt & chocolate knocking about. Quite a weird sensation, the look & smell are not like the actual taste.

15/20 nice chewy taste, loads of taste, very easy to drink, surprisingly low alcohol, creamy taste with a bitter finish, so well balanced ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Was very unpleasantly surprised by this. Was expecting a smooth black lager but instead it came out as a weak stout. Very much filled with coffee and even smoke. Maybe its just an unfamiliar style but give me a tmavy of this any day.
