Rosebud butternuts (2408) - Denton, Texas, USA - JAN 4, 2012
bottle thanks to AmEricAnbrew. poured gold with a white body. aroma and flavor were peach, apricot, orange, and alcohol. body was medium with a fizzy body. guess I didn’t get the whiskey and strawberry out of this.

Nose is of whiskey, a good deal of it as well as light strawberry, some musty dusty barrel notes, peaty, . Bright golden pour, thinnish foam ring. Strawberry notes on top of a good deal of whiskey, soft underlying beer notes. Mostly whiskey and strawberry. A little thinned out, well carbonated. Perhaps a stronger, thicker beer would be better served in the barrel, but interesting and nice nonetheless.

750ml corked and caged, thanks tytoanderso. Pours a clear bright slightly ruby tinted gold with small yet dense off white head. Deep rich nose...candied whiskey orange and strawberries, oak, cardboard hops, honey, leather. Much more fruity and bright then I was expecting from the nose. Slightly tart up front, picks up some strawberry and cherry fruit in the mid palate then finishes up with a bold boozy crackery pale malt finish that has hints of scotch and vanilla. Thanks Ty for sending this.

(750ml bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew) clear orange with just a few bubbles. Nose of candied oranges, strawberry, sweet, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste of alcohol, bourbon, strawberry, wood, and tangerines. Goes down quite smooth, easy to drink for the high ABV.

bottle thanks to Jon. pours a yellowish red with a small head that drops quickly. smells of sweet strawberry syrup oak and alcohol. taste is just the same, strawberry syrup oak and alcohol. however there is a moderate bitterness covering up that sweetness. fruit flavor is nice and ipa components are there. mouthfeel is smooth syrupy a touch of alcohol to feel. It was fairly enjoyable.

Aged in 1965 grain casks. Hazy gold amber beer. Dry and crisp palate. Highly unusual! Taste is dominated by fresh nectarines, peach and sublte splash of pineapple and even a little strawberry! All this fresh fruit is balanced by sourish whiskey and wood. A brave experiment that almost comes off 100%. If the sourness could have been dialled down a bit this would have been a remarkable beer.

Clear golden color/ white head. Strawberry, vanilla, pale malt, pine, floral aromas. medium body. Nice berry fruit, vanilla, pale, caramel malt flavors with dry wood. Smooth easy finish--very good.

750ml Bottle thanks to Matt for sharing this. Pours out a cloudy golden topped with a small white head. Aroma was strawberries, raspberries, light hop notes, oak, and some whisky notes. Taste was light berries, sweet malts, pit fruit, and light tartness.

The beer pours a light golden orange with a light white head. The head only rises about a finger and is gone right away.

The aroma is light, you get mostly a green apple jolly rancher with a hint of vanilla and alcohol at the end.

The taste is not super. It starts off dead in flavor then there is a light creamyness that grows into a very strong grain alcohol middle. The alcohol is overwhelming it makes it really unpleasant. At the end there is a slight hint of the strawberries followed by more grain alcohol.

The feel is pretty light with a lasting alcohol flavor.

This was a drain pourer.

I was really excited to drink this beer, but this was a huge let down. There was hardly any strawberries or sweetness to it and was dominated by a terrible grain alcohol.

750ml bottle thanks to americanbrew.
Golden color with little to no head. Citrus hop aromas with some strawberry pushing it’s way through. ABV is incredibly well hidden, I had no clue this was 13%. Flavor is clean but too much strawberry for me.
