Bottle shared by darkguardian @ otakuden’s Vero Beach Throwdown. Pours golden orange color with thin white head. Aromas of vanilla, oak, whisky and fruitiness (strawberry?). Similar flavors with some citrus hops. The alcohol is amazingly well hidden for such a high ABV. Medium body with lively carbonation. An interesting brew that I am glad I got to try.

Slightly hazy yellow with a lasting white head. Sweet and fruity, complex aroma with peach and strawberry notes. The dry flavour has wooden notes as well as peach and ends with drying tannins

Chriso Shindig Aug 2009. Whiskey like beer. More whiskey than beer. Interesting but fails for me as I don’t like whiskey.

Courtesy darkguardian. Pours a mostly clear golden color topped by a small white head that settles to a thin film. The aroma is nice and shows citrus fruit and hops, tart strawberries, vanilla, and wood, and whiskey. The flavor follows with the sweet malt and strawberries up front with some slight citrus hops adding bitterness. The whiskey adds a slight acidic note to go with the citrus. The vanilla from the wood imparts a nice sweetness and smooths things over. Incedibly well balanced between all the flavors and there is no way to tell the alcohol is 13%. Medium bodied with nice carbonation that leads to a sweet strawberry finish. This is a really unique beer and one I am glad I got to try.

At Chriso’s pre GBBF Shindig ’09. Label described this as ’1965 Grain Cask Imperial Ale, 12.5%’. Hazy gold with a white head. Slight sweetness in the aroma, but also sourness. Immensely powerful taste of whisky and bitterness. As an inveterate whisky hater, I found this hard going.

[RBESG, Sheffield]
Grand Tasting @ The Harlequin, Sheffield.
Pours clear golden with a big, creamy, white head. Aroma has soft strawberries, lots of oak, some bready malts and piney hops. Low carbonation, great dry mouthfeel. Flavour start at bit dull. Just malty sweet, then turns burningly vinious and adds strawbeeries and a fine oaky tartness to the proceedings. Not as good as I had hoped, but still very interesting.

Bottle @ Grand Tasting RBESG 2009. Strawberry in the aroma. Alcoholic flavor with strawberry, whisky notes and oak. The strawberry mixes surprisingly well with the whisky. The balance is really good.

Bottle 75cl. @ Weekend of Tarts After Tasting
Light light unclear medium yellow orange color with a small to average, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate fruity, strawberry, alcohol, tart notes, wood notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. It is sour, alcoholic and fruity (strawberry) sweet ... will love to re. rate this in good condition, both me aad the beer. ;O)) [20090530]
