This beer tastes like Christmas. A bit too much for me. I’ve heard others say it was turning, and I agree.
12oz bottle, no date. Dark brown pour, too dark to see through. Agaonst the light looks a bit ruby brown and some more clarity. Aroma is relatively mild with a light spice coming off, light ginger cook is what I mostly get. A light pluminess after that with a cookie dough lightness to surround all of it. Flavor is smiliarly mild with present but light spices and a mild Belgian dark backbone. Not sweet, dry, more of a S/H/V than a Belgian really. The orange peel doesn’t really stand out for me. nuplastikk (6256) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 28, 2016
12oz bottle. Pours with very little carbonation, very viscous brown body, thin non-head. A pretty awesome winter ale, captures some Belgian flavors without being a victim of out of control yeast. Some spiced edges, but mostly a big, rich, pleasant Belgian Brown. Sublime. SteveOrz85 (249) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2015
2015. 12 oz bottle shared by three. Quick freezer chill. Served in tulip glass. Some head quick to dissipate. Little to no lacing. Head is off white. Beer is a rich mahogany color. Aroma is malty with a complex balanced spice note. Cinnamon, allspice maybe light cloves. Taste is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Malty with good spice, well balanced. Lighter bodied with average carbonation. Light texture. Good holiday sliced ale. jrodooo5 (1672) - DOVER, Delaware, USA - JUN 15, 2015
2013 bottle: Beautiful very dark brown pour once the foamy head discipates. Has good lacing & a decent retaining tan head. The aroma is quite soft & malty. The taste is also mild but has a very nice mouthfeel. It’s malty, a touch spicy, & fairly boozy. Quite a nice brew overall! BeerandBlues2 (13306) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 25, 2014
Bottle at home. Pours nearly opaque dark brown with a large, foamy beige head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy toast and bread malt, lightly sweet dates, raisins and figs, faint orange notes and earthy spices and hops. Flavor is dry toast and bread malt, spicy alcohol, soft dark fruit notes, light earthy hops and bitterness with a dry finish though some sweetness does linger. Full body and moderate carbonation.

I’d been holding onto the 2013 bottle for way too long, so it was time to drink it, even though it is in the height of Summer. Ah well. This one poured a medium brown color, touch of ruby notes, and a gigantic light tan head. I mean huge, even though it was served almost immediately out of the fridge. This one foamed like crazy. Once it settled (relatively quickly), it was ready to drink. Sweet molasses, dark brown sugar and notes of light spices. Flavor was nice easy to drink sweet molasses, toffee, with some light spices.
