Pigs Ear. Noted this as 7.5%. Oily looking black beer. Residual dark tan head. Sweet dark malts and yeast on the nose. Smooth palate, viscous and semi dry. Low carbonation. Rich and sweet dark malts. Tangy dark fruits. Trace of lactose. Finishes smooth and dry.
Cask at the 2012 Pigs Ear Beer Festival, East London. Dusty, dark brown pour, no head. Dark chocolate and coffee aroma with a little smoke. Dark chocolate, toffee, coffee and black treacle flavour. Long dry, sweet finish. JorgeLee (2117) - Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 9, 2012
Tap at Pig’s Ear 2012. The blurb on this beer sounded amazingly interesting, taking a russian imperial stout and adding brett. The beer is jet black in colour, and has a somewhat boozy malty aroma. The taste was surprisingly smooth, at the rounded end of the imperial stout universe rather than the extreme bitterness/roasty end. I couldn’t detect too much impact from brett. Overall a pleasant (but almost boringly so) imperial stout.
