Love me some dark strong Belgians. Nose of cocoa, bourgon and cherries. Appearance brown, somewhat clear, spotty lacing. Taste is a bit acetic, boozy, some dark fruit. Mouthfeel is syrupy, warm, lots of tastes and feelings going on. Perhaps not super well integrated. A bit better than the bourbon barrel aged Philosophers. Pretty good, falls short of great. neepsntatties (2041) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 11, 2017
Bottle. Colour... dark brown with no head. Nose... fruity, with vanilla, toffee, butterscotch and Belgian-y sugars. Palate...massively fruity with dark fruits predominating. Spritely bubbles hit the tongue and linger nicely whilst flavours of dark cherry, steeped plums and earthy cassis coat the mid and back palate. The finish is long and teems with black cherry, black currant and dark brown sugar. ehaak26 (710) - - OCT 22, 2017
Bottle from A.J.'s Beer Warehouse. Aroma of vanilla, dark fruit, coffee, and earthy yeast. zoucrew102 (2104) - - OCT 17, 2017
750ml corked bottle. Rich bourbon aroma with notes of caramel, toffee, chocolate, molasses and oak. Pours deep mahogany colored with a thin light brown head that has little retention and lacing. Starts with decadently sweet caramel, toffee and molasses flavors with a full body and good mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with chocolate malt, oak and nice bourbon flavors with a slight warming effect from the booze, but it is well hidden otherwise. Really nice Anniversary brew. Dark reddish brown color (nearly black) with virtually no head. Aroma is raisin, fig, light vanilla, yeast, some barrel present, light caramel and dark sugar. Medium to full body, somewhat warming, barrel is present with vanilla but does not overpower, main flavors are raisin, date, and darker fruit. I liked this more and more but I'm still not in love.

750-ml bottle from craftbeertemple. unexpectedly gushed a bit, poured amber-cola, spots of lace, sweet malty lightly boozy nose, lightly boozy, huge vanilla, sweet dark fruit, chocolate, complex, balanced, still belgian, smooth, creamy. cork flew 469 in. superspak (6008) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2017
750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 8/11/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, red grape, apricot, apple, berry, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, peppercorn, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted nuts, yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, red grape, apricot, apple, berry, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, peppercorn, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted nuts, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness and yeast/bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, cherry, red grape, apricot, apple, berry, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, nuttiness, peppercorn, clove, light chocolate/coffee, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from yeast/oak spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden; a mildly increasing warmth, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is amazing barrel aged Belgian strong dark ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Very rich with insane levels of complexity, and perfectly balanced between all flavors. Perfect barrel integration; great bourbon/oak presence with minimal associated booze. A highly enjoyable offering, and exceptional style example. sinfull (1798) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - OCT 1, 2017
Brown color. Big, off-white head. Toasted caramel, dark fruits, Belgian yeasts, hint of chocolate and vanilla in aroma. Taste follows. Moderate sweetness. Warming, bourbon finish. Delicious! nickel (1236) - UKRAINE - OCT 1, 2017

Taste: explosive mix of flavors like caramle, malt, grape, plums and prunes. Thick and creamy. Long lasting aftertaste of malt, chocolate and dry fruits DiarmaidBHK (5896) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 23, 2017
Sampler at beer meets wood. Pours brown with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Lovely blend of bourbon and Belgian yeast notes on the nose. The dubbed base comes through more on the tongue. Very quaffable.
