COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Escoffier is our much heralded collaboration with New Belgium Brewing in Ft. Collins, CO. Coinciding with their entry into Michigan in August 2012, this project began with a friendly meeting at our pub. After a few beers and some food, the idea to brew a beer together started to take shape. Surprise!

Auguste Escoffier is considered the master chef of the 20th century. His ideas and methods left an indellible imprint on the culinary world, and are still in use to this very day. We named our beer ’Escoffier’ to celebrate the relationship between great food and excellent beer, and how they elevate each other when enjoyed together. If you’ve ever visited our pub, this is the cornerstone of what we try to accomplish.

Will we make it again? Only the ghost of old Escoffier knows.

Thanks for the tick, Adam. Orange pour with a white head. Tart fruit and sweet malt on the nose. A bit of peach, toffee, green apple, and perhaps some cherry. A little bit of metal and booze, too. Interesting flavor. Lightly metallic and boozy, some tart fruit, and sweet malt. Notes of green apple, lemon zest, peach, and cherry. Sweet bread and toffee, and a little bit of yeast.

Draft. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour funk aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet fruit flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Draft. Taste is sweet and underattenuated. For some reason I jsut don’t like much of what this brewery puts out.

Pouring at NotF in Boston. Pours a lightly hazed amber with a thin beige to white head. Soft floral musk, herbal notes. Sweet, medium-bodied. Gets very sweet, jammy malt, chewy. Light acid, faint acetone. Nutty with some yeast on the finish.

A sour in a can! Golden amber pour with an off white head. Floral, some funkiness, some fruitiness, and citrus. Again, a sour in a can!

UPDATED: APR 2, 2014 Wild mildly sharp aroma, enticing. Orange colour orange taste, a long finish of orange and mildl sour. Good drinkability. Brian’s can, thanks for sharing. I bought a can and had it 15 months later and found it just as good, brett giving a slight farmhouse aroma and taste.

On tap at fountainhead. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sour acidic fruit with a bit of underlying funk. Flavor has more of a syrupy sour fruit note with a hint of acid and underlying barnyard notes.
