Note: 6+/10

EBF 2016. Pours a dark brown with a small beige head that leave spotty lacing. Coconut, grapes, unrefined sugar make up the aroma. Taste is of bourbon, roasted malt and a bit cloying. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. Sticky. Nice dessert, a bit sweet though.

tap at EBF 2016. unclear very dark brown with a creamy dark beige cap, nice lacing. dark brown caramel - fresh grains though; lots of bourbon and vanilla, cloying sugar sweetness, very chalky, hint of smokiness, some tannins, fermented soybeans. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily; cloying spicy finsih, unbalanced and unrefined. sorry homies.

16oz brewery-only can. Oily black hue, low foam. Dark fruit, black cherry & sweet prune nose. Nice bourbon/oak addition in the flavor with hints of coconut, anise, molasses and vanilla. Full, almost slick body and low to moderate carbonation.

On tap: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, and a hint of roasted malt. It’s a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate sweet chocolate with a hint of dark fruits. The finish has light-moderate vanilla, coconut, bourbon, and oak. There’s barely a hint of roast in there too. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

Draft to tulip at the brewpub. Looks good; a very slightly translucent dark cola with beige lacing. Smells and tastes of dark malt, dark chocolate, and oak. A bit of dark fruit on the tongue as well. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full-bodied and a touch hot. Could be more viscous, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - MAR 2, 2014
Draft sample at MiWBF 14. Love the original and the BA’ing put it over the top. Smoother, slight bourbon and creamy texture. Coffee, malt and chocolate.
