16oz can. Touch of brett sourness. Little bit of funk. Metallic aftertaste. Not impressed.

On tap at brewpub pours an orange/amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of tart orange citrus and delight Belgian yeast. Taste of sweet malt, citrus, dark fruit, lightly sour. Pleasant and drinkable.

[Tap] Brilliant bright orange pour with about an inch of dense head on top. Biscuits, bread and mild fruity notes in the aroma. Toasted breads, caramel, light fruits and some grass in the taste. Dry and tart character. Mild carbonation. A nice beer.

Can at World of Beers. Pours copper color with a big head that fades away fairly quickly. Aromas are prunes, wood, and apples. Tastes surprisingly boring, like something’s missing. Generic dark fruit and wood mixed with a cider-y sweetness. Light sourness in the finish. Not bad but not really my kinda beer. Also got harsher to drink to warmer it got.

Sample at Vivant on 5/17/14. Clear amber pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of malt with slight esters and mild tartness. Malty flavor with influence of strawberry and raspberry before a tart fruit finish.

Draft. Not too sure of this dry yeast note. Thinner not what I would equate to a biere we garde.

Can split. Dark gold with a white head. Clean and cidery. A bit sour and light.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2015 Can: Clear, chestnut-copper color with a burnt fawn layer of foam that fades into a ring rather quickly. Complex aroma of dry wood, toasted nuts, light roast, damp prunes, baked bread, Munich-y malt sweetness, & some underlying earthy tones. Some more fruitiness in the back that’s harder to identify. Taste up front is sweet toffee glazed peanuts with a helping of dried, dark fruits right behind. Light apple, prune, woodiness, caramel, with a semi-sweet finish that almost reaches residual brown sugar territory but not quite. Rather dry, picking up a mild hint of earthy farmhouse funk in the aftertaste. Soft mouth feel, dry finish. A decent brew in a perplexing style, not bad at all.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no canning date, but is a recent release. Pours fairly crystal clear orange copper color with a small fairly dense off white head with decent retention, that reduces to nothing fairly quickly. Minimal lacing on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, biscuit, pear, apple, red grape, tart red berries, brown bread, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, biscuit, pear, apple, red grape, tart red berries, brown bread, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, biscuit, pear, apple, red grape, red berries, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly slick/acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome biere de garde style! All around great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and caramel/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draft to taster at Brewery Vivant. Looks good; a fairly transparent deeper golden orange with white lacing. Smells solid; tart and mildly yeasty and malty with notes of dry apple cider. Tastes like it smells, but not as robust. Average on the palate. Solid beer.
