16 oz can poured into snifter. Deep dark clear brown color with 2 finger chocolatey head that is vigorously carbonated but reduces to almost nothing quickly. Chocolate dominates the aromas. Somewhat sweet and chocolate flavor. Little if any smoke or charred roast flavors. Mouthfeel somewhat thin. No carbonation. Does not stick to the side of glass. More complex flavors only come out when you roll it around on the tongue. Belgian esters in the aftertaste only. Pretty tasty but could be better with a bigger palate and body. One of my more favorite Belgian style stouts. ABV is pretty subdued. Mark_Eck (1948) - - JUL 18, 2016
Can. Pours black. Aroma and taste are roasted malts, chocolate, and Belgian esters. Tmoney99 (14479) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2016
Draft. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, coffee, vanilla, spice and small alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted dark malt sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer. smroush (279) - Michigan, USA - MAR 12, 2016
Aromas of plum, heavy malt, chocolate, bread, roasted aromas and a touch of coffee. A generalized bitterness typical of a stout.
Color is almost black with a small light brown head.
Taste is a candy sugar sweetness and the generalized bitterness.
Body is somewhat full, but not all that much for a stout. Average carbonation and a long finish with plum, chocolate, carbonation, sweetness and the general bitterness.
Overall I like the Belgium take on a stout - it’s an ok stout with the chocolate, roasted flavors, bread and touch of coffee, but what really makes it interesting is the candy sugar and plum. Different and fairly nice... arminjewell (9638) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 23, 2016
Pour on tap at Crunchy’s dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark cocoa, roast, caramel, some brownie, hints of coffee notes into a bit of anise, slight spice. Taste was a mix of dark cocoa, roast, coffee notes into a bit of anise, slight dark fruit, spice notes, finishing fairly sweet. Pretty nice.

On tap at Brewery Vivant on 1/29/16. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and Belgian esters. Malty and chocolatey flavor with caramel accents before an estery finish. Thechasm442 (1005) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 30, 2016
Can to tulip. Black with a thin mocha head that quickly goes away leaving decent lacing. Aroma is rich chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood, and dark fruits. Flavor is roasted barley, coffee beans, cocoa, anise, oak, vanilla, and hints of dark stone fruits. Thick and very filling. Alcohol hidden well. Great beer. katrinaez (2014) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 16, 2016
Heavy sugars and syrupy feel. Sweet and bitter. Dark black coloring. Nice barrel taste, but so thick. Bottle chucklemation (1683) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - DEC 19, 2015
Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is fruity, estery Belgian yeast, chocolate, and some roast. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate, roast, and hints of the Belgian yeast. Has a nice full body. The Belgian part isn’t dominant, but there’s just enough to give some interesting character. Good. bytemesis (8375) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - NOV 10, 2015
Can thanks to Jeremy! Pours opaque black, small tan head, creamy with good lacing. Aroma is roasty, ashtray, faint rubber, molasses. Flavor is very light tart; tangy, roasty, rich, cherries, a bit of herbal. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel.
