Can. Unintentional aging. An interesting sweetness with the age. That nice peppery quality when fresh mellows into an almost barleywine style sweetness with a year or more on it. aracauna (3651) - Georgia, USA - JUN 21, 2015
Had this from the bar in Whole Foods in Ann Arbor, which is pretty cool feature. Fairly dry finish, high carbonation. Spicy aroma, fruits in the middle. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 6, 2015
Pour out of 16 oz can, hazy golden orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of lemon, zest, lots of peppery notes into some pear, slight peach, hints of earth into a bit of grass, slight bready, biscuity notes. Taste was a mix of dough, yeast, spicy notes with pepper, some coriander into a bit of pear, white fruits, some bread, finishing slightly dry, slightly spicy. 16 ounce can thanks to Trent!
It pours a hazy straw colour and brings a 1 finger head of foam. Lacing aplenty.
My, I sure can smell the orange peel. Other spices, but no real funk showing up for me.
Orange way up front in the taste too. It seems to bring some sweet and tart notes unless something else is doing the former or latter. A bit of pepper starts to show up after my 3rd sip. Tellicherry black peppercorns? Okay, I had to google that. Imparts floral and cherry flavours. ’splains a lot!
Medium bodied, medium carbonation, it starts of with the orange and finishes with it. There’s not much heat from the alcohol or the peppercorns. It isn’t the easiest brew to drink but it’s enjoyable. I guess, my bottom line is...do "we" have to imperialize every style? Mark_Eck (1998) - - AUG 11, 2014
Draft at Vivant. Pours a clear yellowish color. Aroma and taste are fruits with black pepper.

Sampled on tap at the brewery. Nice tart aroma with wheat and citrus, mild herbal quality. Pepper. Hazy golden with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts moderately acidic with funky tang. Mild wheat and pale malt sweetness. Tart-like funky finish with smooth after, light pepper and orange notes. A hazed blonde to orange juice colour with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity major with orange and light sulfur, light pine needles. In mouth, a sweet orange pulp with ginger, coriander, light maple, interesting. On tap at emporium. czar (9338) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 23, 2014
on tap at slows bar bq, detroit. unclear bright yellow pour with a nice bubbly white head showing some retention and lacing. honeyed malts, booze, spicy berries - very fruity, nice saison character, pepper, citrus skin, bitter herbs, grass. bright carbonation, light body - oily and a bit sticky, slightly boozy and citrusy-herbal-peppery finish. lower gravity saisons are my thang but this high gravity sticks to style but is somewhat sweetish. this makes it less drinkable and saisonable. Can : Pour is murky gold, with a feint white head into this glass - it disappointingly fades to a light ring in this glass. The nose is heavy citrus, baked bread, moving to that spicey peppering note as you would expect based on the description. There’s a hint of booze as well. The flavor profile is light bittering hops initial, moving to heavy citrus - it’s nearly off putting. The "funk" is mild at best - another American take on a Belgian, and that’s ok, while it moves to a sweet finish line and a peppery finish .This brew has a heavy mouth feel, and the imperial saison feeling is different, not completely appealing. This is a brew that begins well for me but becomes something that becomes more difficult to drink with every sip. TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - JUL 17, 2014
The Zaison pours a mostly hazy wheaty golden yellow with a brief bubbly off-white head. The aroma is strong on the peppercorn with a bit of orange. The flavor is peppercorn initially with orange and citrus shining through later and into the aftertaste. Overall this is pretty nice brew.
