Sample at Hot Shots in Pismo Beach. The beer is a flat black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Patchy lacing. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, espresso and cocoa. The finish is roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. Jet black with medium, brown, frothy and pretty solid head and some lacing. Aroma is chocolate and cacao and cacao with chocolate... Not very strong but solid, pleasant and boring at the end of the glass. Light to medium body, again cacao flavors and little bit ashy mouthfeel. Also roasted with some sourness and light bitter, little bit spicy and warming finish. Easy aroma and complex taste.

Strange nose, a bit malt and coffee and a funkiness probably due to spaghetti. Light attack, light body and bitter finish. Aromas of pepper and coffee. Not much chocolate. Overall too watery and light, spaghetti isnt really interesting.

BKL2017. Very bitter coffee aroma. Black, brown cream. Medium full creamy brown head. Hard roasted espresso with plenty of sugar, a dash of almond milk, spicy finish. Rough start, but great finish.

Bottle at Foramoda in Padova some time ago. Aroma: Coffee in not the totally pleasant way, some chocolate. Appearance: Black, cool head. Taste: Full, lots of coffee, chocolate, light fruit, some bitterness and roast. Palate: Semi-sweet finish, high body, low carbonation.

(bottle, 33cl) Black coloured hue with a dense and tanned foamy head. Moderately roasted malty aroma with notes of coffee beans, dark chocolate, vanilla and a whiff of alcohol. Mildly roast-bitter flavor and a present level of sweetness, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Initially slightly syrupy and roasted malt character with sweetened coffee, hints of chocolate, vanilla and liquorice; the taste is drying out mildly towards the bitter-sweet and moderately roasted finish with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and booze in the aftertaste. Okay but not one of my favourites. 07.IV.17

From Boxbeers. In Teku glass. Waching Los Soprano 5x11. Plenty of pleasant coffee in mouth and nose. Less-alcoholic than usual for the style but not lacking any of its usual qualities

Bottiglia: Literally black, small tanned foamy layer; pretty solid dry nose of ashes, burnt malt, freshly ground coffee and presumably dried fruits; pretty solid bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied as expected, neither soft nor tart or harsh; lingering dry bitter finish (with a slight acidity) of coffee and roasted malt, warming alcohol detectable. Not unpleasant...
