Bottled, BB 30 05 14, large sample. Hazy dark brown color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, bit coffee, bit licorice, some fruity blackcurrant notes, dark bread. Slight oxidation, bit metallic hint. Taste is quite roasty bitter, hint of sourness from the dark malts, bit sweet. Quite high on carbonation, which depletes any creamy mouthfeel. Sparkling. Slight salty on the tongue even. Finish is quite harsh roast, again carbonation on the high side. Ok brew. Oakes (17664) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 18, 2014
Cask. Fairly roasty nose w little sweetness, quite a nice espresso roastiness, milky, good balance of strong porter character. Has a vinous red wine character as well. sebwaw (77) - POLAND - MAR 16, 2014
Bottle at home, served in snifter. Pours deep black (like crude oil) with moderate, a little bit brown head. Looks very encouraging. Aroma is rich, but mostly caramel, coffee, dried fruits, some toffee and roasted malts. Very pleasant, however, not too intense to be frank. Full-bodied, in the beginning seems quite sweet, but finish is definitely bitter and long. Beer is very silky and smooth with lots dark chocolate taste, I expected some sourness, but didnt find one. Soft carbonation and well-hidden alcohol makes it easier to drink. Overall, its not the top imperial porter, but being reasonably priced makes it great choice. I definitely buy another one on the occasion.

Black color, against the light dark brown. Small brown head, lacing glass. Aroma: roasted dark malts, coffee, coffee beans, dark chocolate, dark fruits like plums, raisins little intense, but nice. Taste: coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee liqueur. Semi-dry, slight acidity and bitter from dark malts. Medium body with medium carbonation, a bit watery but smooth. Warming coffee finish. Good beer, well drinkable. Lonick (1872) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 5, 2014
Bottle @All My Vinyl Tasting, Edinburgh. Pours brown, nose of coffee and oak. Taste of chocolate, spices/pepper warming alcohol without it being overkill, nice, v.nice. Ragnampiza (751) - Rome / Lecce, ITALY - MAR 4, 2014
330 ml bottle from ArtigianBeer served in nonic pint glass. Dark brown with a decent light beige head which doesn’t last very long, leaving no lacing. On the nose watered down coffee, cocoa powder, lots of vanilla and almost rhum notes, toasted malts and a mild hint of smoke. Good taste, silky smooth with the same coffee and chocolate notes, but with an interesting hoppy aftertaste. Nice and pleasent bitterness. Unfortunately, it’s way over carbonated, reducing the drinkability and the overall experience with this beer. It gets tolerable after a lot of swirling, but not satisfying enough. Medium body and oily texture, well masked alchool. So so. Defreni (3214) - Husum, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2014

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown, thin tan head. Rich aromas, roast coffee, treacle, wood. Lots of dark fruit on the taste and a light sourness which works really well. Surprised this wasn’t barreled at all. Good stuff.
