Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 2, 2017
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016. Not far off from being black in the glass this one, at last it’s really really deep brown. On top there’s a nice big brown hefty lacing head. Nothing to say on the looks. It smells really coffee infused this. Dark freshly grinned coffee. Some roastiness also here, kinda dry also. Like the aroma. Lots of flavor! Almost a little cloying, cause it’s on the sweet path this one. Sweet marshmallows and toasted coffee. Quite alco warming also. It’s thick and oily in the mouth and soft prickling on the carbonation. Lots and lots of flavor. 13.05.201

330 ML bottle black with a light tan head that falls to a thick collar. Nice nose of vanilla, coffee, baking chocolate, spice, and bourbon. Warms up an even more fun nose. Taste opens up with sweet vanilla and after a while chocolate, coffee, baking chocolate, and bourbon appear. Very well constructed beer. Medium feel for the AVB. Quite chewey but more lifted than this appeared. Really solid stuff.

My goodness. What a smooth, tasty and classy brew.
Complete black color with a nice thick beige head. Good lacing. Looks inviting and fine. Lovely nice aroma with a fine intensity. Medium to full body and a smooth carbonation level. Easy to drink. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness. Solid smooth chocolate feeling in the flavor. Also some vanilla, coffee, fruity and roast. When the temperature changes, new flavor layers are popping up. Solid stuff. And dangerously well masked alcohol.

Pours motor oil black with a giant, fluffy mocha brown head. Coffee is doubtlessly the most dominant aroma on the nose, entangled into fudge, mousse au chocolate and glazed caramel, with balancing bakers chocolate, earth and a hint of roast. The coffee is rich in this, mellow, nutty, earthy and roasty, enriched by the soft, chocolaty maltiness. Drinks very soft, chocolaty sweet, with a lower carbonation and a thinner mouthfeel. Bursts of chocolate and whipped cream, toned down by the dry, wooden coffee. Vanilla is detectable on the taste surprisingly soon, due to sweet milk chocolate and fudge, together with a toasty hazelnut quality. Gets even sweeter then with lots of rock sugars numbing the teethes, in which cold brew coffee joins in, creating a suddenly evolving bitterness. Turns a little boozy and sharp then, with an unfitting hop bite, considering its inital sweetness. Wonderful, as for how it integrates the complex coffee, but the beer pushes a little to far as for putting its vanilla quality to use - it is too sweet for me, colliding with the coffee earthiness.
