3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 There is a rather off-putting sweaty sock edge in the aroma, but, once you get over that, I found this a drinkable but uninspiring session bitter. The name must contravene the Trades Descriptions Act as the hop accents were muted at best. Not properly conditioned in my view, so it needs another tasting. Cask (gravity) Battersea Beer Festival .
Re-rate: Cask (handpump) at the Trent Bridge Inn, Nottingham on 14 October 2014. I see I said I needed to re-rate this back in 2004. Better late than never. Gold and in good shape. Fresh and citric, with leafy hop notes too. Very tasty and enjoyable.

Some of these English beers are incredible because of how light they are. Nothing about this beer says ’hophead’. Very light, sweet. Almost no hop flavor outside of the core needed to support a beer.
