COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Looks dark, tastes light. It’s Ontario’s favourite dark lager. A dark beer that is slowly brewed with Canadian grown malted barley, specialty coloured malts, imported hops and pure cultured brewers yeast. Dark lagers are enjoyed all year long, and they’re not as filling as ales. Waterloo Dark will cut some of the heaviness in sauce-based meat dishes. Waterloo Dark is an equally perfect beer to go with appetizers suitable for watching sports games, or used as an actual ingredient when preparing a meal. Experience what this great dark "light tasting" lager has to offer and why it has won multiple awards at the World Cup of Beer, Canadian Brewing Awards, Ontario Brewing Awards and the Monde Selection International Institute For Quality Selections.

Can - Dark malts and some nice toffee. Clear brown with a decent light brown head. Toast and some caramel notes

bottle @ The Andersons / Columbus OH --- Opaque brown/black color, thin ivory head cover, stripes of lace. Taste is watery caramel malt that is run over by crisp carbonation on the swallow, moving from there to light bittering to finish. Not a lot to it.

Raistlin (410) - London, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 23, 2015
Rich dark amber in color that has a thick frothy head that never completely diminishes. Has a light hoppy scent with a hint of spiced malt. Taste is a medium bitter hop with a light malty finish. Goes down very light for a dark beer.

Tranquillity (2339) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 23, 2015
Can. Brown body, opaque, with a medium light brown head. The aroma is licorice, with a nice ale hop touch. The taste is strong of licorice, salty with a full malt finish. Very pleasant!

Bottle. Chocolate syrup, malt, and herbal hay aroma. Dark brown with large light tan head. Sweet chocolate, roasted barley, and mildly bitter hay and ash flavor. Good body. Kind of dark for a Vienna - seems more like a dunkel in both appearance and flavor.

Bottle: Pours dark, ruby-lit brown/black with a frothy beige head. Dark, roasty caramel, chocolate aroma. Flavour is roasted and rich....slightly black-pepper accented caramel malt..chocolate, cola.....maybe even a slight whiff of smokiness. Light, but not watered-down... Curious about the low ratings on this....I thought it was a bit dark for the style, but pretty tasty.

luttonm (6308) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 7, 2015
Can in Toronto. Pretty typical dark lager (per ’schwarz’ over in SEE), lighter brown-black body, clear. Light sipper, clean with some caramel and roast. Ok.

chinchill (5025) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 3, 2015
12 oz bottle. Nice smooth feel, judge right amount of soft carbonation, and good looking, with a large pillowy head. The aroma is only acceptable but the flavor is fine. Good dark lager.

BreWedge (534) - goose bay, Newfoundland, CANADA - MAY 29, 2015
473 ml can. Full transparency, I don’t know how long this has been in my fridge. Pours a clear, light, nutty brown with a large beige head. Aromas were bread and chalk. Tastes are grainy, roasty, and on the dry side. Light bodied with a short, mild tinny finish. Not offensive but not much in the way of character either, it is a lager after all.

3.2
PrattBrat (30) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 8, 2015
Very dark ruby red-brown colour with a tan head. Good retention and moderate lacing. Aroma of toasty nuts & earthy. Tastes of bread with a trace of nuts and caramel. Medium body & carbonation. Just ok.
