2013-02-22 - tasting hosted by blankboy, with gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - can c/o gregclow ... pretty green can! Pours refractive clear bright gold with a smallish white diminishing fizzy head (3-). Smells weird - sweet, a little stanky - like no-name spreadable honey, a little weedy, no alcohol. Taste follows - more weedy than unpleasantly sweet, but still pretty not-nice. Slick, still dead, harsh mouthfeel, finishes even more so - why do we do this to ourselves?

500 mL can from sales rep. Pours a golden orange with a huge frothy white head that bubbles away slowly. Aroma is rich in malts, but smells of grain alcohol. Taste is medium-full bodied, and the alcohol is not masked at all. Hoppy bitterness mixes with the bitter taste of alcohol, and there’s nothing there to make it worthwile.

mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 28, 2013
[5138-20130222] 473mL can. Mild grainy corn mash aroma. Clear, yellow orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Corn mashy grains flavour has a lingering light hop aftertaste. Medium body. Average. (6/3/6-/3/10) 2.8

473ml can pours a bright clear golden color with a 2 and a half finger bubbly white head that retains quite well leaving some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits and grass. Taste is a sharp spicy grass hop bitterness with a light fruit and malty sweetness. An interesting blend of flavor in this brew that make it enticing and a refreshing experience.

cfrancis (3446) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 12, 2013
This is just bad. Pours clear light amber with a small white top. Aroma is corn straw malts that overpower anything else. Taste is almost disgusting sweetness and corn from the malts. Can’t really detect hops maybe some caramel. Just blech.

robinvboyer (4667) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 4, 2013
Very light clear straw colored pour, small sticky white head. Aroma of corn, light hay, and some cereals. Not the greatest y any stretch..... Flavor is sweet, and bready, with for corny sweetness. It lacks a nice grassy hop not to balance out the sweetness of the malts.

HeistAlmighty (1156) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - APR 29, 2013
473ml can. Clear golden yellow, good sized white head. Aroma is cereal and apple juice. A little sweet and sour taste from both of those. A bit of herbal hops on the finish. Overall, this didn’t do a whole lot for me good of bad. Decent Bock style lager.

whitecap (289) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 19, 2013
473 ml can from the seasonal pack. pours clear yellow with an average white head. aroma of malt, cardboard, metal. No good.

Spab (3842) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 19, 2013
473 ml can from LCBO (part of Seasonal Collection Mixer). Pours a clear golden yellow with average white head. Aroma is musty cereal grains and fruit. Flavour is gently toasty cereal grains, apple and hints of butter and lemon. Modestly astringent. Average body. Ok.

Papillon (400) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 18, 2013
473 mL Can. Gold body with a rich frothy 3-finger off white head settling to a film leaving thick stringy lace.Aroma of sweet light malts, pungent yet subtly evergreen hops, honey, and wildflowers. A fruity-herbal explosion dominates the flavor with a phenolic honey and mustard aftertaste transmuting to a grapefruit - bubblegum finish. Very peculiar in the mouth -like I want to try it again "next week or something".
