Sampled at GABF on 9/16/2010. This stout pours a dark black color from the tap. Very large sized tan foamy head, with good retention. The aroma is chocolate, coffee , with some raspberry. Medium bodied stout. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are herbal. Touch of tobacco. The raspberry flavor is semi-sweet. Nice balance. Good carbonation. The fruit flavors need to be a little more intense to help balance the chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - JUL 30, 2010
[Tap] Pours an opaque black color with a thin brown head. Natural aroma of freshly picked raspberry. Chocolate and roasted malty aromas as well. The taste was a little more muted. Only the faintest hint of raspberry or fruit. Mostly roasted malts, molasses, coffee and some cocoa in the flavor. Average carbonation level, but disappointingly thin in body. Lingering grain and chocolate finish. Still one of their better beers for sure.
