Bottle from weizenweihen, shared. Pours black, with a big, fluffy, beige head. Licorice, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and syrup. Sweet and very malty, with a light roast bitterness. Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy darkish brown head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was fruity hops, cherry, toasty malts and a strong black licorice presence. The flavor was toasty malts, chocolate, dark fruits, malted milk and lots of black licorice. Long finish. Yay - infected mess of a beer!! Had a pint aluminum can from a trade. Foamed like an infected wild ale - more than any Porter I’ve ever had. Smell was ok at first. Caramel and roast, but lots of weird fruit and oxidation. Affected the body and flavor. Didn’t finish. And this is a 4.45 bottle?

The body is what I enjoy most about this Porter, medium plus and much like a stout. Oily type texture. Smooth creamy carbonation level. Flavor of spent espresso beans, anise, through the center shows dark fruits or a red grape character. Really enjoyable!

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, cocoa and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long chocolate, cocoa and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle, alu. It pours a brown body under a small, dense, dark beige head. Mostly roasted malts in the aroma, with some molasses, brown sugar and leather. Hints of vanilla. Cocoa notes, a good dash of molasses and brown sugar in the flavor. Some vanilla and leather too. It’s full-bodied and smooth on the palate, with a nice bitterness drying things up. Sample at ACBF in Boston. Pours nearly black with a thin brown head. Nose is a bouquet of coffee, roasted grains, chocolate and a hint of anise. Taste is balanced. Sweet malts are complimented nicely by a nice hop bite. Very tasty brew!
