COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Norwegian tradition alcoholic beverages are sent across the globe to benefit from the temperature variations one experiences when crossing the equator. Editor’s note: Brewed at Bridge Road, bottled at Nøgne Ø. Shipped to Norway in barrels previously used for red wine.

Mørk brun uklar med flott lys brunt skum som ligger helt ut. Lukter sure kirsebær... Surøl? Søt fruktig smak, noe sure toner men ikke surøl...

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2014 Flaske 0,25l fra Vinmonopolet, Tromsø Sentrum. Batch 860B. #00607. Skibotn 4 Mai 13. Dyp mørkebrun. Kjempehøyt luftig skum med litt farge. Litt lacing. Svakt syrlig aroma. Smaken friskt syrlig. Overraskende. Stikkelsbær? Myk munnfølelse. Smaken behagelig syrlig. Blir litt uvariert. Litt sedimener igjen i flaska. Alkoholen godt kamuflert. KI=3

Dark brown pour with insane carbonation. Please watch out, when you open this one up. Bottle doesn’t say any specific serving temp, but I opened it a slight bit above 12 C. The spray almost reached the roof. Anyway, dominant aroma of berries, almost sour-like qualities. Quite pleasant. Taste is more like a sour/coffee stout, with emphasis on the latter. A very weird mix of some coffee roast bitterness, mixed with the aforementioned berries. Works out excellent, in some weird way. Must try, pretty unique.

250 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with an off-white creamy head. Aroma is rather rich and complex with red wine, wooden notes and tartness. Flavour of caramel, bread, musty yeastiness, tangy red wine notes, wood and berries. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Aroma is rather nice, flavour isn’t that good unfortunately.

25 cl bottle.
Pours dark red-brown color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty, distinct red wine also with wood and yeast. Flavor is also sweet with caramel, toffee, some distant red wine notes, wood and subtle yeast, lots of sugar also. Stuffy and sweet palate, nice aroma though.

250ml bottle from Den Nordiske Ølhandel, Copenhagen

Pours dark brown, almost black with a thick light brown head. Aroma of dark ripe fruits, vinous notes, syrup, tartish berries, complex malty notes. Taste is quite complex, sweet, vinous, malty and musty with notes of berries, syrup and dark ripe fruits. Finish is sweetish, sticky and vinous with some wood, berries and syrupy notes. Quite complex, but feels a bit unbalanced.

25 cl bottle @ home. Batch #866B: brewed 20.12.2012, BBE 20.12.2017. Bottle #11237.
Aroma is slightly sour with red wine and some cranberry juice. Flavour has woody tones, red wine, juicy tones and some vinegar. Also some sugary tones. Too much red wine here and no signs of quadrupel.

The opening of my bottle was explosive. Maybe, caused gashing effect. But in spite of that, the taste was perfect. Citrus notes, vanilla, vine. Hoppy palate.

Explosive opening. Pours murky dark brown with a small head. Nose shows red wine, heavy oak with vanilla notes, rich malt, sultanas, caramel, fruit cake, golden syrup, even some soft phenols. Lovely. A mixture of sugary sweet and boozy tannin-laced drier flavours. some fruit cake again with more golden syrup. Very long-lasting finish. The red wine is a little aggressive, overpowering the malt complexities. Lovely syrupy body.

Raisin, dark fruits and alcohol dominate this beer in flavour, aroma and taste. Enjoyable beer. Fairly big and one to be careful of. Would make for an enjoyable night cap on a cold winter day.
