COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Norwegian tradition alcoholic beverages are sent across the globe to benefit from the temperature variations one experiences when crossing the equator. This beer was brewed at Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth, Australia. Maturation took place in red wine barrels on its journey to Norway. Blending and packaging was carried out by Nøgne Ø.

Editor’s note: Brewed at Bridge Road, bottled at Nøgne Ø. Shipped to Norway in barrels previously used for red wine.

Bottle. Having tried the Nogne O version when it first came out and having it instantly become my favourite ever beer, I had high hopes for this. It didn’t disappoint! Massive red wine flavours mixed with the Borealis flavours I remembered. Brilliant quad, on par if not better than the Borealis. Thoroughly deserves its rating on this site!

THX! to Antoine for sharing this bottle. 25 cl. bottle – clearly not fully filled – sampled. Quad aged in red wine barrels whilst travelling on a ship from Australia to Norway. Pours dark ruby wine brownish with mocha bubbles for a head. Nose has lots of soft red forest fruits, brambleberries, blueberries, even strawberries etc. blended with sweet red wine, clear wine profile but very lovely, some sugary sweetness below & wine barrels,… Taste is lots of the previously mentioned berries, red forest fruits, sweet syrupy, cane sugar & quite a lot of wine, sweet red wine blending in, even sweet tannins & sweet barrel, tannins carry lovely in the back, sweet caramel. Rich of fruits, berries & very clear wine, velvety body. One of my favourite quad’s so far, easy & fav. from this outstanding brewery.

Pure magic! Thick, brown head that tastes both acidic and bitter - lovely! Aroma of both tropical fruits and darker berries and fruits. (Raisins?) Oily and winy (from barrels...?) texture. The balance between bitterness and sourness is perfect, and the warmer this beer gets, the more the dark and bitter take over. Tastes of licorice too, but in general the taste is pleasantly refreshing with hints of sweetness. The perfectly bitter aftertaste lasts "forever".

There is nothing like being pleasantly surprised by a new beer. Norwegian quads have been few and far between (this is the second one actually). Beers matured in red wine barrels haven’t exactly been overflowing the market either and it’s fantastic to experience such a result. the aroma is porridge made from sour cream, brown cheese, red wine, red berries, dark fruits from the oak, body like a porn porn star, full bodied. The barrel aging is transparent, yet well integrated. Nicely done Nøgne!

Dry red wine with delicate sweet accents. Smell is incredible. Should be just a little more fill with malt body.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2017 butelka, warka... bylo wiecej niz jedna? warka z 20.12.12 do 20.12.17, batch 866B - cokolwiek by to nie znaczylo. Sliczna i bardzo wysoka piana, opadajaca dosc powoli, dlugo trzymajaca sie gesta, kremowa warstwa pol cm. Samo piwo nieco metnawe, czerwonawo-miedziano-brazowe. Aromaty dosc intensywne. Owoce ciemne, zarowno swieze (wisnie, czeresnie) jak i suszone (rodzynki, figi, sliwki). karmel. melasa. ciut wanilii. lekko funky. winne. jakies nutki ciemnych slodow w strone kawy. ciut jakichs przypraw. fajna, bardzo zlozona i bardzo ladnie ulozona ta aromatyczna paleta. a w ustach jej powtorka :) do tego lekka kwaskowatosc, lekka slodycz, lekka goryczka, przyzwoita pelnia, srednia ale wyrazna lepkosc. ciut tanin. Jakbym mial to w stylach ujac, to quad z nalecialosciami winnego flandersa - taki rodzimy napoj australijski z aborygenskimi korzeniami, jak nic ;) super ukryty alkohol, lekko rozgrzewa i moze ciut daje takiego poszczypywania w ustach. jednym slowem: ekstraklasa. Zarazem ciekawe, na ile marketing czlowiekowi percepcje zryl? choc skoro skutecznie zryl, to w czym problem? ;)

Eikefat, røde bør. Masse masse masse. Sitat erik dahl.... Søt fruktig smak. Fundere og mer raffinnert enn de store...mangler litt fylde i forhold til de store, men veldig bra.. slår westvltteren

A good quadruple with nice sweetness, and not to much alcoholtaste. Pours a nice head that sticks for a long time! The bitterness is good, and it it also have some sourness to it. Great beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Vinmonopolet . Oh my! Dark brownish color, little creamy head. Smells like raspberries, red wine and dark fruits. Taste is raspberries, grapes, red wine and maybe some honey. Perfect carbonation. I can’t sense the 11% ABV at all. This beer is totaly amazing! The best quad I’ve tasted so far. People who like good wine would love this beer also.

Bottle thnx to inbreak / clubgonzo Pours deepred/brown , good white foam . Smell of red wine is very prominent already ! Scent has red wine , and a shitload ( realy , realy much ) fruits . Red fruits , leaves you smell in fall , sour touch ( barrels i guess ) sweet and complex . Waaw , what a beast ! Omg Soooo happy i didnt share this ! Where to begin ? Its more like a vlaams oud bruin , combined with a quad , than barrel aged in such a good way ! Its earthy, red fruits , very complex , sweet , has that sour touch , oak , red wine , spices perfect carbo , not heavy , but not thin neither ,... Im a shity rater , usualy i xan only describe thrre things or so in a beer . The fact i can get this much out of it means 1 thing : GET THIS ( and send it to me lol )
