Pretty unique brew with a 14 karat body sporting a tightly packed ivory cap. Nice citrus and tropical fruit notes, clean and crisp green leafy qualities, and even a slightly sourdough, earthy, cheesy addition. Refreshing and well crafted.

flip_soeperman (880) - NETHERLANDS - JAN 16, 2014
The beer is a hybrid between a saison, sour and ipa. The beers sourness is upfront, with some spicy yeast note and some resin notes in the aroma. Actually not the exciting, and the name of the beer is not truly lived up to.

Citrus hopak hop malt aroma. Murky yellow colour fantastic head & lacing. Malt orange herbal hop flavour. Smooth palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Looks divine - intensive golden mead color, rocky white head. Little bit hazy. Hits nose with citrus and exotic fruits, and than appears notes of belgium yeast. Aroma stays to the very end. Pure pleasure. Taste is comlex - bitter and sweet. Lightly sour even. Very long finish. Medium body, oily feel, creamy. Average carbonation.

22/XII/13 - 33cl bottle @ home - bottled: 9/IV/13 (2013-1167) Thanks to Bo for bringing the bottle to Belgium!

Note: tasted at about the same age as I tasted the Nøgne / Bridge Road (version brewed at Nøgne), which I thought was amazing.
Clear deep blond beer, big crackling white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel when opening the bottle, then orange flavoured effervescent vitamin tablets, spices, hint of coriander, orange peel, citrus fruits, bit dusty, some alcohol, bit of hay. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: dry spicy start, orange peel, pretty bitter, grassy, floral touch, fruity notes, little sourish, is it a touch of bretta in here? Aftertaste: citrus, little fruity, bitter hops, some alcohol, grassy, spices, coriander, orange peel, little bit of sweet malts, lemony, bitter ending. Maybe my expectations were pretty damn high because of the Nogne version, but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed, despite the fact that this is a solid beer.

Bathory (458) - Kverneland, NORWAY - JAN 4, 2014
Pours a golden colour with a huge belgian head. Aroma of coriander, herbs, pine, citrus and passionfruit. Flavour is coriander, pine, candysugar and some citrus. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, I think the norwegian version is a bit better, but it’s definitly a good beer.

Niksko (624) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - NOV 28, 2013
330ml bottle.
Pours a clear light golden, with a voluminous, rocky white head.
Nose is really powerful and evident even before you get your nose in the glass. Lots of really ripe, sweet fruit, like pears, pineapple, mango and peach, and a little hint of grassiness.
Flavour doesn’t really do it for me though. I’ll admit I’m not a giant fan of some of the Belgian estery and phenol flavours, I’ve really enjoyed hoppy saisons in the past. This, not so much. I get some banana, lots of clove, some plum brandy, a bit of heat, some damp funk, and a pleasant lemon peel bitterness on the finish. There’s also some toffee from the malt in there, basically from the attack to just before the finish, but it’s nicely integrated.
The body is medium, and there’s a slight viscosity to the beer..
Not bad, but just not my cup of tea.

Farm house, pine and resin aroma. Gigantic head, looks great. Nice hop balance to complement the saison style malt, bit sticky but nice. Interesting beer.
