Bottle @ benzai. Hazy/murky yellow colour with a medium to large sized white head. Smells fresh, slightly sourish, malts, herbs and spices. Reminds me of Oersoep brewery. Tastes slightly sour, malts, brett, white ipa, some herbs. Way too much carbo, medium body.

Pours deep hazy gold into a tulip. Fluffy white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet bready caramel, tropical fruit and resin aromas. Crisp with hay, mango and bubblegum upfront turning dry in the lasting bitter lemon pith finish.

Bottle, courtesy of - and shared with - Maltmisjonen; cheers man! :-) Pours a clear pale golden body with a big foamy white head. Nose is sour lime peel, straw, bubble gum, hints of lemon and grapefruit. Taste is tart lime tones, straw, citric peel and some herbal-grassy notes in the finish. Moderate bitterness, medium body and carbonation. Much more on the saison side than its Nøgne Ø counterpart, which leaned more towards the IPA aspect. I think it lacks the freshness I got in the NØ version and also a bit on the taste-dimensional level (very citrusy but very little else is going on) but its still a pretty nice beer.

Bottle (shared by Arve_Christian - thanks!) Pours golden with a white head. Hoppy and yeasty aroma with citrus, fruits and hints of spices. Just lightly sweet with a solid bitterness in the finish. Nice one! (2013-03-25)

22 ounce bottle from Royal Liquor Mart in Rockford, IL, served in a Duvel glass. IPA-Saison, eh? Well...pours an immense fine-bubbled gout of foam, filling the glass, leaving big clumps as it recedes over the slightly hazy golden body...first whiff of the aroma is all saison, with tarragon, mint and especially rosemary and a moderate dry grassiness; on further nosings, wet dank hops show up and nearly cover all, not really unpleasant but odd and certainly seeming more IPA than Belgian farmhouse...on the tongue, an old, crystallized honey sweetness struggles against a fairly aggressive bitterness, winning out to some extent in the end but leaving little in the way of malty character or much of that dry grassy rustic loveliness that makes a saison...well, a saison...fairly thin on the finish, carbonation weak for (either) style. This didn’t really work for me but to be fair it may well have been an old bottle - this liquor store isn’t that reliable. A fair "pop" when opened though. I dunno. Re-try some day - maybe.

0.33l bottle @ Crowbar. I so love this aroma.. In the glass this is a light cloudy kinda golden light orange one and it has a nice big super lacing white head with great retention. As I mentioned, I just dig this aroma some much. It’s just so brett infused, hoppy, fresh and amazingly inviting. Grassy hoppy with sweet saison-peachy fruits and it just smells really good. Tastes great as well with a bretty both semi dry and semi sweet flavor. It feels light oily in the mouth and it has an just above average carbonation level. I get a dry hay like flavor here, lots of funky almost bretty saison yeast. Lots of grapefruit bitterness and citrus. There is also a kinda stingy almost peppery burn on the tongue here. It ends with a light dry mouthfeel and leaves your wanting more. Still, I definitely prefer the other version, but glad I got a chance to try this. 17.10.2013

Draught sample @ The Rover. Pours slightly hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and tiny spicy phenolic with crackers, pink grapefruit juice, pineapple, passionfruit, dry soil, freshly cut grass, pine needles and hints of white pepper corns. Taste is slightly bitter, fruity and tiny phenolic with crackers, grapefruit juice, pineapple, mango, freshly cut grass, pine needles, cape gooseberries, passion fruit, dry soil and hints of white pepper corns. Mouthfeel is dry, tiny oily bitter and medium bodied. Finish is fruity and tiny phenolic with crackers, grapefruit juice, unripe tropical fruits, freshly cut grass, pine needles, dry soil, minerals and hints of white pepper corns. Solid hopped up saison.

Bottle at Crowbar, january 8th 2013. It’s way too long since I had Nøgnes version so I wont try to make out the differences. Should have had them together of course. hazy yellow body, sparkling, with a huge white thick head. Aroma is really fresh, lemon, spicy saison yeast, pears, orange. taste of oranges first and foremost, joined by peach, pepper, delicious yeast note. Bitterness comes slowly, cooperating good with the yeast, making a nice spicy aftertaste of clove, peppers and tropical fruits. A very good beer this is.
