COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed for Beechworth’s annual Celtic festival, the Celtic Red Ale is now a Bridge Road staple.

The Celtic festival is held in november each year and aside from the music, having a few ales is a big part of it.

The Celtic Red Ale is classed as an Irish Red Ale in beer speak. It presents a wonderful deep red hue and a creamy off white head. The Red Ale has a big malty body owing to the use of caramalised malts and roast barley. The flavour is slightly roasted with smooth notes of chocolate, toffee or Jaffa, bringing back childhood memories of the occasional Jaffa that was actually consumed and not just thrown at the back of someone’s head. The malts are back up with the use of noble hops to provide a good lick of bitterness. At 5.3% this one is sure to make you merry.

Weak head. Strong toffee taste with aroma of black currants. Hint of smokiness. Would drink again.

Aroma of malt and faint caramel with dark fruits. Taste is mostly malty with some sweet caramel and (perhaps) dried fruit. Faint bitterness. Not the best red ale I have had, but a very nice beer.

darkish beer. Coppery brown. Light shows through. Off white head - about a finger and a half. Retained froth OK but no lacing. Smelt wonderful. Malts, with an undercurrent of bead and dark fruits. Was there a hint of smoke? Not sure. Flavour was sweet and I enjoyed it, but not quite up to the promise of the aroma. Good drop which restored my faith in Red Ales, but not a wow beer.

Poured a clouded deep coppery brown with a one- to two-finger dense foam head that retained very well and laced poorly. Carbonation high and fine. Aroma of chocolate, smoke and malt, all nicely distinct and strong. Taste of sweet dark fruits (raisins, currants) with no real bitterness; taste not match the aroma. Light body, a bit thin. Smooth, light, slightly creamy with a thin, slightly sweet but bland finish.

From a bottle. Malty aroma and thick, smooth malt flavours, I liked it way more than I thought I would. Will definitely have this again.

Full of toasted and roasted malts. Tastes like a home brew shop smells. Mild hoppy bite in the back. Good.

A decent malty red ale with a mild citrusy hop finish. Nice smooth palate. All about the malts this. From a 330ml bottle it pours Amber-brown with an off white head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
