Ok, the concept for this beer is quite simple. Take our standard Bling IPA and pimp it to create a hop bomb at around 8.5% alc. The real challenge was creating an Imperial IPA that reeks of fresh, pungent hop aromas but doesnt give the impression that it is trying to tear the teeth out of your jawbone. We do hope we got it right!

Best Australian IPA /IIPA you can get. Huge flavour and perfectly balanced. Nice malt backbone supports a hop onslaught of stone fruit, passion fruit, grapefruit, pineapple, mango and slight hit of pine resin. Drinks very easy for the ABV. Easily as good as the most acclaimed New Zealand and American IPAs whilst still tasting unique to Australia. If you see it, get it.

330mL bottle from Beer Cartel Presents a murky amber body with small tight foam. BOOM! Serious hop nose on this one; lychee, passionfruit, honeydew, grass, leafy resin, citrus rind. Theres some toasty, honeyed malt in amongst the maelstrom, but HOPS Body is full, perhaps not as much as expected, but long and oily on the palate. The assault continues on the palate, perhaps a touch restrained but still intense; resin, melon, unripe passionfruit & guava, citrus & pine, with sweet biscuity, honeyed, slightly raisiny malts. Big resiny bitterness lingers on a warming finish. Serious stuff, one for the hop lovers for sure!

A decent imperial with not quite enough oomph to rank among the top grade. Deep bronze with a thick head. Classic IPA aroma - toffee malts, ripe fruits. Figs, mango, fruit cordial. Slick body. Ripe and rounded on the tongue. Clean, piney finish. Quite drying. Im not sure why but this didnt ring my bell. (330ml bottle from Leura Cellars)

beer-yum (1555) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 11, 2014
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 Alluring aroma is backed up by a full bodied flavour and nicely balanced bitter finish. A standout beer in one tasting session but subsequently easily surpassed by the local contender (Panhead Vandal).

Orange/gold pour with a tight white head; similar in appearance to the bling but a bit less carbed. Tropical fruit aroma, pineapple, passionfruit, and malt underneath. Taste was a bit understated - I was expecting a bigger version of Bling, and it was that, but the bitterness was a bit underwhelming. Sweetish, overall fairly good, but just missing something

Very malt dominant - not enough hops for me - try Garage Project Pernicious Weed for a hoppy but not ball-tearing imperial IPA.

Pours dark orange with a slightly tanned white head. Very sweet tropical aromas, largely of pineapple and grapefruit and some caramel sweetness. Excellent malt backbone to balance the hops. The best description I can come up with is a sticky sweetness. But this makes it delicious. Fruity, citrus and pine tastes also. A winner

From a 33 cl bottle in Cairns Australia. Pours an orange copper with an off white head. Floral nose. Citrus flavors with some minty notes. Slight bitter finish.
