COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bridge Road Brewers together with gypsy brewer Mikkel Borg Bjergsø of Mikkeller created a one off brew one Friday evening of March 2012. The result is The Dark Harvest. Inspired by the timing of the collaboration, it was decided to make a dark beer, using locally grown fresh hops. Of several research hops being grown at Rostrevor Hop Garden, one variety stood out for selection and was harvested just hours before being added to this beer.

Tap at Bitter Phew. Killer black IPA, sweetness tempers the normal roast grain bitterness. Black pour with tons of lacing. Mild roast grain aroma leads into taste that is equal parts sweet and bitter. Pleasant lingering bitterness (burnt toast) and sweet (dark chocolate).

Bottled 10/4/14. Deep black, off white frothy head. Aromas of milk chocolate, toasty coffee, loads of malt and a lick of grassy hops. A strong background of chocolate, coffee and milk with grassy/earthy hops going straight through the middle from start to finish. Beautiful beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a bottle. One of my favourite styles, light on the roasted flavours it’s quite hop forward. Very nice stuff.

Dark brown opaque appearance with dense caramel head. Good lacing. Malt and chocolate aromas with light hops. Lively medium carbonation. Dense burnt malt palate with well balanced late bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

poured dark cola and settled black, hints of ruby show through. Light brown layer of film. Excellent staying power to this. Good lacing. Smells of chocolate covered orange with dirty, gritty pineapple and orange hybrid. Good nose. taste is a bit odd but good. a little rubbing alcohol but it is restrained. Really do not notice the body as the hop profile dominates. Orange, pine and grapefruit. all muddled together and very dirty. palate is a little meh but good. A little bit of metallic pine and grapefruit but oily in the front and mid and low carbonation. I like this. Very different and to me the hop character is what stands out. Not the body of this.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2014 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black with a small, long lasting off white head. Nose is a little one dimensional but pleasant enough. Loads of piney hops and some coffee behind it all. Quite a grassy undertone. Taste is full of grassy and piney hops with quite a resinous feel. Coffee on the finish. Slight bitterness is overrun by a moderate sweetness. Pretty nice beer. Only downfall is the mouth feel, quite thin but solid length. This years batch I much prefer than the previous lot I had. Really digging this one. Fairly aggressive bitterness which takes it to the next level. I like it
