In Norwegian tradition alcoholic beverages are sent across the globe to benefit from the temperature variations one experiences when crossing the equator. This beer was brewed at Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth, Australia. Maturation took place in red wine barrels on its journey to Norway. Blending and packaging was carried out by Nøgne Ø.

Editor’s note: Brewed at Bridge Road, bottled at Nøgne Ø. Shipped to Norway in barrels previously used for red wine.

Theydon_Bois (21865) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2018
Bottle split at L42, thanks to Kenny, 13/02/18. Murky brown with a well presented beige cap. Nose is tarte dried fruits, sharp red berries, light funk, earthy notes. Taste comprises fruit loaf, toffee, dusty wood, red berry tang, dates, funky, leather. Medium + body, spritzy carbonation - a touch over for my liking but keeps this sippable, drying close. Decent quad.

February 2018 - Probably the final tasting on L42, One Canada Square. Bottle shared with big thanks to Kenny. As 'Bridge Road Aurora Australis'. GUSH! Dark brown, slight reddy orange hue, almost opaque, highly sparkling, foamy light brown head. Aroma is papery, a little vinegar, oxidised red wine, woody. Body is light and rounded with soft carbonation. Taste is tangy dried dark fruits – prunes and currants etc, redcurrant, malt loaf and raisin, pretty tangy souring. Interesting. (6-4-7-3-15=3.5)

Leighton (23107) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2018
Bottle shared in London - thanks to Mitch. Pours unclear brown with a slim, bubbly head. Certainly some oxidation evident in the nose, a bit of toffee, tangy berries. Medium to heavy sweet flavour, some old carpets, toast, dried berries, lots of beaten leather. Full bodied, chewy, with soft carbonation. Warming finish, some booze, woody dryness, damp hay, old berries. Interesting.

Bottle at L42 - thanks to Ken. Gusher! It pours cloudy brown with a thick foamy tan head. The aroma is earthy, musty, bit of funk, oak, leather, dull vanilla, jammy, tangy berry and toffee. The taste is dry, bitter, oily, tart, vinous, berry skin, tangy, toffee, jammy filth, warming spice and warming alcohol with a dry, woody finish. Full body and high, foamy carbonation. Quite good fun. Jammy and vinous.

13Feb2018 Red wine, oak, dark chocolate, cacao, light must, dark, jammy fruits, dark berries. Hazy, very dark brown, massive, creamy, beige head. Medium sweet. More sweet, dark toasted malts, more red wine, oak, soft carbonation, full bodied. Very nice, rich and complex. Bottle shared at L42 tasting - thanks to madmitch76!

Gushy fucker. Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy malts, light creamy sweetness. Nice savoury tang. Mild brett. Good red wine, quite tangy. Little creamy caramel underneath. Smooth finish. Comes together very well, could drink a load of this.

0.25l bottle. Hazy brown body with a light brown head. Aroma and taste of red wine, balsamic vinegar, cocoa and caramel. Like a strong Flanders red. Nice beer.

Jumps out of bottle. Cherry red with medium beige head. Aroma is cherry, sour, caramel, dark roast, wine, some acid, grapes, oak. Taste is grapes, cherry, oak, barrels, wine, caramel, cinnamon, some roast, toffee. Superb beer!

Gusher, though that may have been my fault. Big, pillowly tan head, deep dark brown. Nose is definitely a lot of red wine, red fruit, musty grapes, slightly lactic? This is supposed to be a clean beer I think, but it certainly smells a little funky. Flavor is rich plum, red wine, lots of oak, stewed fruits, but also lightened by a bit of horsey funk, clovey esters, a little tart as well. Finish is not as heavy as you would think, lightened by the tartness. Either this has soured or it was meant to be this way, but either way I'm liking it. Very complex, lots of dark quad flavor but a bit lighter from the funk and sourness. Delicious, love the red wine character, wonderful at almost on 5 years.

Bottle BB 20.12.2017. Aroma is red wine malts dried fruits barrel some hints of caramel. Taste is is malts dried fruits caramel hints of umami. Aftertaste is nice balanced. Nice one.
