Bottle. Very murky light orange with a coat of white head. Aroma of ripe and under-ripe quinces, pears, vanilla, pepper, fenugreek. Tastes really quite tart up front with some pear-like sweetness and spices. After the mouthful of fruit the taste falls away to just lingering spices. A little too much fruit for the beer, I think - the intial tartness of the quinces is too much for what comes after. But it’s refreshing and a very good soft cheese beer. Bottle thanks to dlau. Pours a weird very cloudy orange. Minimial slightly off white head. Very strange looking beer. Aromas are definately on the subtle side. Perhaps some yeast, a little wheat malt and some spice. Not much happening. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in to this one after a recent bad experience with a beer fortified with apple. The aroma is great, nice yeast and spice with a fruit undertone coming through. The appearence is hazy orange with a thick white head that lingers. The initial palate is a strong fruit with element, mid palater is a bit weak where a lack of carbonation brings on a watery element and finishes strong with some nice estery elements but finishes a bit short. Tried this just prior to Xmas and found it quite refreshing, wasn’t too sure what quince would taste like and probably couldn’t remember or describe it again. Sharp fruits, even for a saison. The Coing fruit adds a tart, stonefruit like flavour along with some dry pepper and lemon. Despite these quite appealing features there’s a piney sour character, albeit subtle, that points to a fault. Chriso Gaylord Tasting. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wood, some mild spices, herbs and mild barnyardy notes. Flavour is fruits, wood, some herbs and spices.

Draught at The Local Taphouse, Sydney. Pours a very hazy grapefruit/pear colour with a small white head. This would have to be the ugliest looking beer I’ve ever seen. Aroma is artificial sweetener, candied apples, burnt rubber, plastic and band aids. The flavour is more of that sickening sweet sugar coated apple and yeast. It’s a bizarre mix and the quince just didn’t work in this beer, well for my palate anyway. Sour and tart finish. Perhaps I’m missing something here?
