COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The harvest has been hopped to the hilt using fresh hop cones straight from the nearby Rostrevor hop garden. The variety of hop is unique to the gardens research block. The variety was selected for "The harvest" due to its big orange and citrus aromas, with the fresh hop being added to the kettle as well as the conditioning tank. As for how the hop character translate into the beer, well open it and find out.

hawthorne00 (4195) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 17, 2010
UPDATED: APR 19, 2013 Bottle, 12C. Pours pale gold with a large fluffy white head. Smells of grapefruit, blood oranges and a little resin with an odd (but not unpleasant) Wit-like yeast note - although a lot less than some others look to have found. The hop aroma is fresh but mild. There’s light nectarine sweetness underneath aromatic but modest bitterness. Utterly frivolous throwing around of fresh hops with just enough malt to make it work. Fresh and lovely seasonal session beer. [3.6]

[5/11] 2011 version: as above, but with more tropical fruit notes in both aroma and taste - lychees and passionfruit I suppose - and a touch of spice in the finish. That (odd yeast?) character is there again, but I still don’t mind it. The hops are interesting and very unusual. [3.6]

[4/12]2012 version. Hazy yellowish orange with a modest white head. Aroma of oranges, lychees, gooseberries, menthol, marijuana. Fruity with a dry and quite bitter finish that’s still overmatched by the green hops. [3.6]

2013 version - again different hops. Aroma is less tropical and green - a little cleaner with lime joining lychees and passionfruit. Bitterness is higher and the finish is dry and buzzing. Liked this version better. [3.7]

PotjeBier (3838) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 12, 2012
On tap @ Beer Temple. Pale blonde color, hazy. Large white rocky head. Aroma’s boast out of the glass: citrus, resin, herbal hops, very refreshing, acidic almost, with something funky retronasal (smoke? wood?). Flavor is very mild in comparison, grainy, lightly bitter. Body is thin. Medium bitter finish, more aroma than bitter from the hops. Slightly dry. Interesting, but a big difference between aroma & flavor.

Borresteijn (7602) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 1, 2012
On tap at Beer Temple. Hazy yellow colour, white head. Aroma of citrus, oranges, flowers, nice and fresh. Flavour is medium sweet, lemon and mostly sweet oranges, citrus bitter finish. Light bodied, prickly carbonation. Nice refreshing stuff, tasted like a fruit beer.

Draft @ beer temple. Pours a clear pale color with a nice, frothy head. Aroma is full of hops resins. Tangerine, orange, grapefruit. Flavor is incredibly hoppy. Nice balanced bitter. Very juicy.

Draught, part of a tasting paddle, at Union Hotel in Newtown, Sydney, on July 11, 2013.
Cloudy honey color, white head. Hoppy, citrus, malty, fresh taste. Medium yet fizzy mouthfeel, high bitterness, though well balanced. Sweet, hoppy, citrus scent.

330ml bottle (Hilpea Hauki, Helsinki)
Initially a massively fruity aroma, pineapple, mango, tons of peach, even some lychee. Once the fruit blast is gone, there’s some leaf tobacco. Hazy to cloudy orange, Utterly enormous sticky off-white head. Quite a refreshing palate, not watery, but certainly light, crisp crbonation, as I expected from the head. Brief, but tasty sweetish malts, and nice fruitiness, as promised. Even though it’s brief, it doesn’t desert you, the bittering hops are quite interesting, they give you a pretty darn big tingle, that does persist. 4.4% beer done right.

Green is the best word for this beer. Smells like fresh hops as soond you crack it. Mild pine, less citrus but a hint. Pours clear amber with foamy white head. Taste is almost all hops but in a balanced and complex way without riding roughshod over one’s palate. Finishes relatively quickly given the bitterness, but fresh.
