Bridgeport sixers are on sale for $5.49 at the local and I was about to grab some IPA as it is my old standby but I thought "Why not try something new?" Nice brown-red color with a very helathy, foamy head. The smell is at first has a similar component to the IPA so maybe that is the yeast but its followed by a distinct malt smell. Nothing too special but still good. Nutty, brown flavor that is about average for a brown. Not sweet like Newcastle but actually has a bitterness. This would be an interesting

2009 Bottle - Pours a dk amber with a small tan head...aroma is toasty, nutty and dry malty...flavous is suprisingly astringent, bitter malt and bitter hop, not a great balance...bitterness pretty much takes front and center, and makes it hard to notice much else...fair amout of grain, pretty forgetable... Crushed with Jakebra. One bad brown ale. Lots of sweet malt, little roast, plenty poop on the nose. I think there’s dirt in this beer actually. Grainy, nasty mouthfeel. Not good. Capa (3257) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - MAR 22, 2009
Medium brown color with a thin head. Toasty caramel malts, earthy, bread, and light fruit in the aroma. Light bodied with a higher carbonation level than I would like. Caramel malts, toasty, light doughy flavor, sweet fruit, and a little chocolate. Finish has a higher hop bite than I thought was coming with a dryer than expected feel to it. It’s not bad, it’s just not the type of brown I enjoy. illidurit (2327) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAR 17, 2009
On tap at 515 in Santa Cruz. Clear medium brown with a fluffy off-white head. Not much lacing, decent retention. Aroma is bready malts with a sweet citric hop tinge. Flavor is bread crusts, cocoa, light roast, and a bit of earthy hoppiness. Mouthfeel is overcarbonated and a little too thin. Comes up a bit short in every category.

Dark brown pour, with little head. smelled of malt, kinda nutty. smooth creamy mouthfeel, little bit of sweetness, get a little of the hops near the end [very little though] this is okay, nothing too special, pretty ordinary, im a much bigger fan of the English brown ales. rcasta (861) - EL SALVADOR - FEB 13, 2009
en sammamish con sici, gracias por la hospialidad. esta venia en six pack y esta suave para mi gusto de brown ale pero es siempre lo que me gusta Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Amber pour with a miniscule bisque colored head. Caramel aroma with some mild fruit and even less hoppiness. Flavor was similar with even less hop presence noticable. Very mediocre. BrownDogBeer (50) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 18, 2008
