Dark, nearly black body with a clinging tan head. Surprisingly light aroma resembling a cup of coffee with cream and sugar. The palate seems quite light to me, especially for a porter. It’s pretty smooth with some decent prickly carbonation. The brew starts relatively sweet and finishes appropriately bitter. Not bad.

Smell is roast and coffee. Taste is the same with a very slight minerally character. Medium carbonation, semi-watery body, and mild foam.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown almost black color, with a small tan head that falls quickly. Light aroma of faint coffee and a bit of floral hops. Taste mirrors nose, not much in the way of coffee or roasted malts, a wee bit of chocolate as it warmed. Very bland and unpronounced for a coffee porter. Medium body with light flat carbonation.

This is an okay coffee porter. There is certainly some coffee in this beer, some chocolate flavor as well. Very dark with a slightly watery mouthfeel.

A - Pours very dark brown, almost black. 3 fingers of mounded kahki head with impressive staying power. Lacing is thick on the sides of the glass. S - Chocolate syrup is the first thing that comes to mind. Smoked malts, some vanilla, and hints of coffee. T - There’s the coffee, some roasted malts, slight oxidation, almost has a coffee/sweet&sour mix/tequila flavor, kind of strange. Roasted bitterness and pine on the back end. Aftertaste is a bitter coffee. M - Firm medium body with sudsy carbonation. Not bad but not great. It taste like coffee with a splash of tequila which isn’t as gross as it sounds. I have a buddy that drinks this stuff almost exclusively and he’s not even a coffee drinker. Good to try but not worth seeking out. Serving type: bottle 10-26-2012

Pours nice and dark. Serious coffee aroma. Very little head, slight lacing. Mostly coffee flavor, with a bit of chocolate and a hint of smoke. Tasty and easy drinking.

Bottle:   Dark cola, not as dark as I was thinking, moderate foamy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Fresh coffee on the nose, slightly husky.   Smooth sweetened coffee and roasted malts on the tongue.   Seems a lot of creamer, a little bit of sugar.   Not as acrid as coffee, thankfully.   Smooth, but moderate in body.   Soft finish, some sweetened coffee and roasted malts.   Pretty average, but fairly solid.   Not too hoppy either.

Fatehunter (2605) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUN 15, 2012
Poured into a pint glass. Black, black and blacker. A nice inch of tan head that is still holding minutes after the pour. Ummm, roasted coffee and more coffee. Smells like my breakfast drink. There is some underlying burnt and roasted malt too. Tastes like coffee. Bitter comes in halfway through and then a slight watered down taste. The hops do not balance with the coffee and malt very well. It results in a bit of a battle that ends with an off bitter taste towards the end. Soft body at first, most crisp towards the end. Moderate carbonation. Not the best "coffee" beer, but not horrible. The taste was the only let down.

I really think this got the bad side of the coffee here. Just a dry cocoa aftertaste, not very rewarding. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
