12oz bottle to pint. Smells malty and bitter. Nice creamy persistent head. Taste follows aroma. Nice brew.

Expect the unexpected with this ale. It pours a dark brown color with a long lasting head. There is a slight scent to it, but nothing that stands out. It was quite heavy for an ale while there was a slight nutty taste, very slightly bitter but finished quite smooth. A very nice find and something I would suggest to others.

leah2974 (453) - Georgia, USA - JAN 16, 2013
Amber brown color, mildly sweet, balanced malts. Not as dark or complex as the bottle description seems to indicate.

3.3
kwoeltje (2233) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - JAN 13, 2013
(bottle) murky brown with tan head. Malt aroma. Flavor is caramel malt and some earthy hops.

light smell, almost yeasty. flavor isn’t overwhelming, nor is it special. Slightly hoppy aftertaste that doesn’t linger too long afterward. Unimpressive and average

cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - JAN 1, 2013
On tap at O’Riley & Conway, pours a clear dark amber with pretty much no head, the aroma is sweet with a little bit of malt and just a hint of dark fruit, the flavor is pretty much like the aroma, sweet with not a lot going on, a little bit of malt in the finish, boring.

3.1
Fatehunter (2568) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 1, 2013
It has a thin head with no lacing and a hazy, copper colored body. The aroma is only the faint smell of hay. A bit of a disappointment. It tastes like yeast, a barnyard, grain and with a mild bitterness. Low carbonation and medium body. A fair enough beer but lacking in the appearance and smell areas.

kereltis (33) - Oregon, USA - DEC 27, 2012
Does not do what it says on the bottle. Weak aroma, very malty with a hint of hops. "...winter warmer..." I’m afraid not, the flavor is way to mild and weak for a winter ale, might be ok as a summer ale but leave it on the self during the holidays. It does have a nice label though.

3.6
jzzbassman (1638) - Arlington, Texas, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Pours clear brown with a slight head. Caramel and spice aroma. Sweet caramel flavor, some earthy hops, light bodied.

3.5
Alexmestas (29) - - DEC 22, 2012
Winter warmer. Hop forward - not a ton of sweetness but malty, toasty and nice alcohol warmth ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
